The two up-firing drivers in the Flightcase's design are intriguing, to me at least. On a crowded stage, right on top of your amp, you would arguably be able to hear yourself better I would think. You get two drivers (up), and the audience gets two drivers (front) plus the ambient effect reflecting off the ceiling (perhaps ...).

Has this been your experience? And are there other benefits (or disadvantages) to those up-firing drivers?

Hey Bolo, I've been using my 1x8s in this configuration (1 of em tilted way up facing me and one aimed out at the audience) for gigs where the stage is really tight. There are a bunch of venues in SF where the stage is narrow and you have to be right on top of your amp. With both the upfiring and straight forward speakers you get a great monitor. I really like it this way only you got to watch for feedback.

The Flightcase is the first micro amp I can put on the floor and hear myself accurately. That goes for DB or BG. In fact, it's best placed against a wall...haven't tried a corner yet.

flatback, yes I do remember your descriptions in prior posts of how you set up your 2 LDS cabinets to create that sort of "broad panoramic" effect. I liked the idea then, and I still like it.

I don't know of any other cabinets designed w/ drivers pointing up like the Flightcase, so at least as far as I can tell it is a unique design.

Interesting.

I laid my Contra on its back a coupla times as an experiment. I liked the way the 5" driver was pointing straight up - I could hear it real well. Of course, the audience couldn't. And the 10" driver is really designed to fire into a floor or some other surface at a close distance, so it did not sound the same without a surface close by to "push" against.

Plus the whole combo always wanted to roll to one side.

I wonder,if there would be something coming out to replace the Suitcase?
for example two chanel and extensioncabinet option would make the flight case something close to perfect for me (and a mute buttons)

My thoughts too. I'm hoping to see a D400 head in place of the current one in the Flightcase and Neo loaded 4B extension cab.

Check out Ed Friedland's youtube review of the flightcase. He plays it with an URB at the end and it sounds great.

So does anyone have a comment on the preferable ultra small DB combo:

PJB Flightcase or AI Coda R

Maybe even the Mark Bass 12" combo?

Ed F. liked using a preamp buffer, I'm not sure if that was neccesary on the PJB or just so he could mix in the mic. I've also heard the MB stuff might need a buffer. There is often the down firing debate over the AI combo.

I own more then I really need but one of these ultra small combos would seem to be a cool addition for coffee house stuff.
