If she's upset that you're playing the night before your wedding, what is your reasoning for doing the gig anyway? Just my opinion, but starting your married life off by being insensitive to her wishes, especially when they are reasonable, isn't a very good idea.
Maybe it's just me, but there's something ironic about that statement.Dr. PhunkyPants said:Be a man and do whatever the hell she asks.

Dr. PhunkyPants said:I hear you. But you know what I'm saying. You gotta be supportive of a soon-to-be bride. It's just what you do.
I am far from being unsupportive. She and I have been together for 11 years this August. I started dating her in High School, while I understand and agree that this is one of the biggest days in my life( will eventually subside to the birth of my kids...at least I hope), I don't drink--so no parties, I don't enjoy bars unless I am gigging or seeing a gig, and I rarely do anything without her around me ever. This gig is not just some rink-a-dink thing it was booked last July two months prior to us setting the date of the wedding, besides that we scheduled the wedding for a Sunday because she didn't want to interfere with that arrangement. I tried do convince her at the time on several other dates, she had her reasons for the NO, and now she wants to be mad because I will be downtown in Chicago while she is with her sister in Millwaukee. Honestly, I think that she is thinking that I am lying and this is becoming some sort of bachelor schindig.
By pissed off, well....I should probably say irritated because I think she is allowing this to become things in her mind that scare her.
Whatever, I am not trying to say that anything is more important to me than our marriage, however, I get to play for three separate acts that night that could land me the best paying gig of my time. I feel trapped here and now I feel as though some of you(DR.) are trashing me.![]()

vegaas said:I agree Phunky, you just gave a whole bunch of new info. The key piece being that the gig was set before the date, and she picked the day after the gig, knowing full well that you had the gig the night before. In this case, then she should understand that she picked the date and live with the situation.

With the complete story, I now reverse my position. Sorry for the rush to judgement.
