Please recommend a P pickup

I have a franken P bass: MIM Jazz neck (rosewood), MIM P body (alder).
Model P is nice, however I find that it has too much boomy lows/low mids and not enough crunch/crisp in high mids for my taste.

What would you recommend?

P.S. to give you a better idea: - in this shootout, I like Dominger, Antiquity II, Fender - in that order.
I was also thinking about something like Lace, Delano - along those lines...

Personally I like the EMG GZR Geezer Butler sig pickup. Rather than give you my impressions, I would direct you to look u a whole and very long thread about them, lots of good info there.
For myself, I really like the tone (won't attempt to describe it, I suck at that) and, with the solderless connection, it was super easy to install

I'd drop in a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 or Fender Original '62. You wont go wrong. ....Set her up, add good strings. MMMMmmmmmmm!

I concur on SPB1 or Fender Original (that's the one I use). Cheap but as good as an expensive boutique stuff.

Well here is my take on this one, I have both the EMG GZR in one of my P-bass (Fender American Special) and the Seymour Duncan SPB-1 in a modified (Squier CV P-bass) and I love both. It will be your task to save the world and hopefully you will have choose one of the PU's I have mentioned...

Crunchy high mids says Geezer. SPB-1 is just a shade down in the high mids from the Geezer, but it's also a great pickup.

I can only speak for the emg gzr, since my nate mendel sig., already had them installed when i got it. If the other 4 P basses i have owned would have had the gzr p/u i wouldn't have sold them. Like others i won't even try to explain the sound of them, they just sound right to me.

i have 2 mim p-basses with geezers (the tone is incredible, and the solder-less connection makes installation a breeze (input jack wiring diagram notwithstanding)). i also have a '73 p with fralins that is also a tone monster. lots of great choices out there. enjoy the quest!

A Rio Grande 'Muy Grande P' cuts like a chain saw. If you want throaty and aggressive, it definitely has those in spades.

There's a lot that sounds damn good with the Fender CS 60s. I have never personally tried the Geezer's but they sound pretty awesome as well.

I just picked up a bass with the Aguilar 4P Hot Pups in it, and I have to toss those into the discussion as well. I have been wanting a nice throaty P sound but a little more articulate than some of the vintage voiced PUPs out there. This Aggy with some TI Jazz Rounds on, sounds perfect. Nice barking lows with articulate mids.

I use Delano Big Poles on my Jazz Bass Five, they are indeed awesome but they'll certainly take you away from the traditional Fender sound and the they super expensive.
