pls help me

especially when she's hot because when they are good looking and feeling happy on stage that's the money for you

It’s good to stand one’s ground when appropriate, but if it came down to be a choice between an attractive, guitar-playing, female singer, and a PITA bass player…

Well, no point in the OP encouraging that scenario.

:)

+1 on forming complete words. You're not on a phone using SMS, and even then, the language shouldn't be bstrdsd. It's not like English is your second language, is it?

I'm a big MO fan from wayyyy back. Great bass lines and a fantastic band to see live, too. Another Aussie band to check out for some bass lines is Hunters & Collectors' more experimental stuff, such as found on the Hunters + Collectors album – "Talking to A Stranger", "Scream Who", "Run Run Run", "Lumps of Lead" etc.

Like others have already said, the "Beds Are Burning" bassline is a driving force in the song, gives it urgency. Having said that, there's only a couple of places where playing anything other than the original would be taboo, such as the unison lines, as long as you maintain that throbbing sense of relentless urgency.

I can't imagine where you could put in the extra passing note, and further, I can't imagine how she could even notice where you deviate if it's just passing tones. Can you post "your" version? I'm curious to hear where you're slipping in the extra note.

All this over o n e note (1) ?

That song was a huge hit in the US.

Here's how I am hearing the main bass line - the first two parts are just E-E-A-B, but the third one is E-E-G#-A and the fourth is E-E-G#-F#.

Point being there is more to it than you (or she) thinks.

It's an awesome bass riff- I was having fun learning it just now for this thread:D

it's an aussie song called "beds are burning" by midnight oil

in the chorus, there's this part where the bass player plays some passing notes, he played 3, i played 4 but she demands tht i follow the original cause she really loves it.

This song is great as is, why are you changing it. You're doing a cover song, play it like it was originally done.

And get your keyboard fixed or type on it harder, it is missing on some characters. You also deserve a kick in the ass.:scowl:

y shld strt pttng vwls n yr wrds. dnt typ lk ths.

Anyway... whats the song? Is the bassline so important in the song that it should be played like the original?
Do you really think she'll get physically violent if you dont play the bassline exactly like the original?

I agr wth Matticus. This new typing shorthand is lazy and stupid.

And you should talk to the GIRL in your BAND about HER issues. If they can't be resolved, move on to another band.

That being said, she is probably kidding about the whole "kick your arse" thing. If she isn't, she is a (insert "B" word here) and you should either go ahead andA) punch her in the face, or B) move on to another band. (I would suggest B.)

Hmm, Im familiar with the song, but cant really remember it having any significant bass line that shouldnt be messed with.

well, the intro and verse does have a bassline that i'll follow but the chorus is all running bass with some passing notes which i felt can be changed

sorry for getting off topic. You should check out more of Midnight Oils music. very cool indeed. full of great bass and guitar lines, wicked grooves, very profound lyrics, and some sweet ass guitar tones. I was a huge fan and still listen to their records quite often.
in regard to the op, unless she's like that with everything, let it slide. I'm sure there are songs that you are that passionate about as well. It's a fantastic groove, enjoy it.

you know what?

she actually refuse to do those songs that i like saying it's not nice :mad:

I mean, who in the right mind finds "You gotta be" by De'sree not good?

If you like the band, why cause unnecessary waves?

Get a reputation for just being a PITA, and when something comes up that’s really important to ya, you’ll have lost your clout.

point taken. thanks

And realize that to make money, ya need to do songs that girls like, which means her opinion is likely worth way more than yours.

especially when she's hot because when they are good looking and feeling happy on stage that's the money for you

we do make it a point to have some songs that will appeal to
guys and some songs that will appeal to girls :)

Sounds like you're arguing with her just to have your way, and she's doing the same. That's all rather pathetic. Just play it the way it is on the record.

yes i do realise that.

it's just me that i hate it when girls just think they can have it their way.
