TBH I prefer it on the edge at the bottom!
(can't use a right-angle plug with this countersunk jack)

Even my P has a side bottom plug. Just like my other basses. It’s awesome. I hate the cable over the top of my bass.

Top if I get a say in it! No leaning on the cable when I set my bass down, and it’s at a bit less of an angle going through the strap.

I like the jack on the front of the bass. So much so, that I rerouted the jack from my Spector from the bottom to the front. Much better for me...

Neither actually. I like the Jack position on my Dingwall. It comes out of the end of the bass instead of the bottom/side. So it doesn’t have either of the issues I have with normal top or side jacks. With normal side jacks playing high energy rock shows my thigh tends to bump the end of the cable a lot and wear them out faster. Top jacks just aren’t my cosmetic preference, better with a right angle cable though.

Side: preferably a strat jack pointing towards the strap pin .
I love 90 degree cable ends, when that is not available.

Doesn’t matter so much, as long as it’s all the way in.

This has got to be one of the things I never consider when buying a bass, although I try to stay away from barrel jacks.
Headstock color is a bigger concern.
