I’d like to see more Strat-style top jacks. I like having the jack at the top where I can see it, but some cables stick out way too far in that configuration. I compromise with an angled plug, but I’d much prefer a straight plug and an angled jack.

Generally I'm a top mount guy. My Fender Aerodyne Jazz has a top-mounted Strat-style socket. I didn't really like it much at first but am getting used to it. I just seems like it's not really secure fit.

I was very pleased when I realised that the socket hidden on the edge of my TRBX had been placed dead in line with two of the knobs. I've been wondering if that was deliberate.

I voted side-bottom, but in reality it doesn't matter much to me these days as I moved to right-angled jacks on one side of my cables. That way the cable doesn't stick out whether the socket is on the front or on the side.

I honestly don't care, but many of my favourite designs (Thunderbird, Ric 4003, Höfner etc) have them on the side, so I vote so.

I like these carrot shaped output jacks like you get on strats. It keeps the cord off the edge so you can lean the bass in a corner without worrying about putting pressure on the jack itself. Also if the cord is dangling straight down and it gets stepped on it will pull straight out instead of putting stress on your pickguard/jackplate or jack itself. This is such an important feature to me that I sawed a hole through my jaguar jack plate to fit one of these. I've got a jazz bass like this too.

Use a 90 degree cable and run it back through your strap. Problem solved.

I appreciate the effort it took to keep this post funny and on topic...all of the topics. Well done.

Also, I like those long coily cords with a right angle. I can move about the stage without stepping on the cord that's dragging on the floor and, if I do step on it, it's obvious. The 90 degree angle end fits all of my basses, which have a variety of Jack placements. But I also like pineapple on pizza, so that explains a lot

But I wouldn't let that stop me use a bass I liked...
