Hey now, I'm a huge Who and JE fan, but Empty Glass is a Pete Townshend solo album. Don't get me wrong, I love it equally as well as who albums, but Tony Butler played bass on that (especially great on that title track you mentioned, all of those fantastic fretless slides!)

John Entwistle on the bass guitar, god damn that song is so awesome.

If you opened the Who up like a christmas present, you'd see that was John soloing under there all the time.

I did a thread followed by a poll on TB for the best "pop" bass lines. The top four were "Money" Pink Floyd, "I want you back" Jackson five, "Peg" Steely Dan and "Come Together" by the Beatles.
