Poll? coolest basslines

"What's Going On" - Marvin Gaye (Whole CD)
"I'll Be There (Reachout)" - The Four Tops
"My Girl" - The Temptations
"Superstition" - Stevie Wonder
"Im In A Different World"- The Four Tops

Pretty much anything Jamerson and Bobbitt Did on Motown Records from 1966-1968 changed the face of music forever, and you can't deny it. There have been some greats since then, but without Jamersons influence on the world, a lot of the music I saw you guys talking about would not exist.

The reason I started playing bass...
--Take it as it comes--The Doors

On the other hand, these might have influenced me a little...

--L'America--The Doors(two notes go along way in this one)
--One of These Days--Pink Floyd (get a multi-effect pedal and you're good!)
--Let there be more light--Pink Floyd(first Floyd song I ever heard)
--Money--Pink Floyd(obvious!)
--Day Tripper--The Beatles(obvious!)
--Tales of brave Ulysses--Cream(can't leave this one out!)

If by cool you mean coolest to listen to as opposed to most challenging than I nominate Rocco Prestia's bass line to Tower of Power's What is Hip and Verdin Whites to Earth Wind and Fires Devotion. This however is a very subjective category. If you enjoy a partcular bass line, whether it's from Sepultra or from New Breed then it qualifies as cool. NJB

Day of the Baphomet - The mars volta
santeria - sublime
beer - reel big fish
charlie - red hot chili pepers
exaltation - matisyahu

+1000, but it's also challenging to get the timing perfect.

Yes, but I think that's what the discussion is about, what do YOU think is the coolest bassline?
