Pretty much anything Jamerson and Bobbitt Did on Motown Records from 1966-1968 changed the face of music forever, and you can't deny it. There have been some greats since then, but without Jamersons influence on the world, a lot of the music I saw you guys talking about would not exist.

I agree this is a very broad and subjective question...there are many bass lines that are killer, each for their own reasons. So many in fact, that I'd be hard pressed to pick only one...hence my answer above...

If by cool you mean coolest to listen to as opposed to most challenging than I nominate Rocco Prestia's bass line to Tower of Power's What is Hip and Verdin Whites to Earth Wind and Fires Devotion.This however is a very subjective category.If you enjoy a partcular bass line,whether it's from Sepultra or from New Breed then it qualifies as cool. IMO, the best basslines are to be found in the music of The Who, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Rush, and ELP.
