I've seen em both...... but lets be honest...... for a LIVE performance ...... RUSH takes it hands down. Even if you don't like their music, you have to appreciate the talents of these three guys. Just amazing to watch.

JPJ for me. No way I could discount Getty's prowess, but LZ is fun to play and is more conducive to cover for most situations. Rush can be very tough to pull off and seems to have a limited appeal to the masses.

The answers don't work for me.

I love the Zep rhythm section, but Jimmy Page sounds like he plays while wearing a first baseman's mitt and every time plant opens his mouth, I cringe because of his inability to stay in key.

Rush - on the other hand - only suffers from one deficiency; they can no longer make no music because of the loss of the greatest drummer I've ever heard.

If you like Rush you at least have to acknowledge the band that influenced Rush.

I happen to like both.

One of several bands that had a big influence on Rush.

I like Zep, but Rush edges out for me.

I voted LZ
And yes, I'm biased, I'm in a LZ tribute band.
I can play JPJ lines and synth/organ/piano parts
I cannot play most of Gettys bass or synth parts (certainly not with my feet while singing and playing bass live)
So I admire and respect both, but LZ gets my vote.

Geddy Lee shaped my bass playing in my early years more than any other player, so I gotta go with Rush. No slight on Zep, though.
