Grew up around Zep, back in their heyday. Rush didn't get much airplay where/when I grew up, and I didn't discover them until college, so they are not part of my "formative years" like LZ is.

That said, from the standpoint of listening to bass playing, I like what Geddy has done, but to me JPJ sort of brings a more well-rounded listening experience.

Women will hear Zeppelin, and start dancing or turn it up. They hear Rush and want to hear something else. Case Closed.

It's a hard comparison between Page, Jones, and Bonham alongside Lifeson, Lee, and Peart, but Geddy and Plant's really no contest for me at all. Both bands could be pretentious, Zeppelin could be pretty loose, and sometimes Rush is puckered up way too tight. Both the best at what they did, but ultimately Zeppelin moves me, while often I appreciate Rush. So Zeppelin for me.

So this is just for fun right....? The best comment so far was "like comparing steak and lobster."

Not a big Led Zeppelin fan, though they had a few memorable tracks IMO. I never got into Rush, the first time I heard them I thought they sounded like a bit like Yes, with a bit of stadium heavy rock mixed in, so they didn't really grab me. There were plenty of other prog/heavy rock bands that caught my interest more.

So between these two, Zep for me.

I really like the melodic playing of JPJ. I could listen to LZ all day. I respect and appreciate RUSH for what it is...but Zep is what I would rather listen to and aspire to personally. I have lifted a ton of JPJ's licks and lines over the years, but I have never really bothered to learn more than two or three Rush lines and usually just a lick or two.

I feel the same way every time I try to get through an entire Rush album. Then wonder why I even tried, yet again lol.

Zep wins this versus battle by a long shot for me, they are rock n’ roll. Yes, Rush are stupid talented I know, but they have never held a flame to the inferno that was Zeppelin. Talent is not a factor in this argument as all parties are legends.

I love both dearly and I've loved LZ longer. But Rush speaks to me more than pretty much any other act (with the possible exception of Chicago) and inspired me to pick up the bass.. So, Rush.
