I'm trying to be objective. I love both bands, and I think there is really no wrong answer. They're different. I voted for Rush, though. You can dissect members, albums, songs, techniques, how well they were recorded, all that stuff all you want. You always come back to they were both great bands with great musicians and great songs. Rush has just meant more to me, personally.

LZ by the numbers was/is more popular. They had radio hits and mass appeal. Rush was always more of a niche thing. They appealed to me in my teens (late 70s early 80s), but none of the girls I knew liked them. ;)

Is scream singing in falsetto still a thing in rock, or was that just a 60s-80s thing? I sure liked it then, but... not so much anymore.:thumbsup:

Led Zeppelin got my vote because I remember listening to them at my aunt's small ranch when Led Zeppelin (1) came out with the burning Hindenburg Zeppelin on the cover of their first album. My cousin Johnny put them on the stereo and said, "you have to listen to these guys!" I did and I was amazed. There was no music like it at all back in early 1969. Here's Dazed and Confused off their first album


Then in October of 1969 with Led Zeppelin II they came out with "Whole Lotta Love", which after 53-years is still a great song and just about every great singer makes an attempt to sing it! So here it is:


And of course here's Immigrant Song off of Led Zeppelin III


And then there's Black Dog from Led Zeppelin IV


Not to sell Rush short, but for me it's Led Zeppelin.

But hey, that’s my opinion which, pales in legitimacy. But, I gotta say, I am a solid fan of Rush. Both bands were/are influential on me since I was eight years old. Growing up in Cleveland listening to nothing other than rock n roll on “WMMS 101FM THE BUZZARD”, there was no getting out of listening to Rush. It was on there that they were introduced to the US Market. Aside from that, I have only seen Rush live.
But yeah, there’s really no point in discussing talent level as all members of each band is iconic in their own specialty.
