Poll: The best Fender "Red" custom color...

Midnight Wine, black guard. I have a P and a J in this scheme. They play and sound great to boot. This one isn't mine, but will show the look. I love the dark brooding mood of it.

I voted "Midnight Wine", but would've added "Candy Apple Red" as a second option.

Fender-Japan's standard Aerodynes have an "Old Candy Apple Red (OCR)" finish, which I mega-dig. It's like it occupies a space between "MW" and "CAR". It also does a significant tonal-shift depending on how the light hits it.

CAR. But I'm colorblind so what do I know?

Go "Green"?

Hello TBers! I need your help and this trend seems to be the right place to ask.

I bought an old early 90s (RED) Squier P bass body for a mod project, part of it includes getting an unfinished neck and paint the headstock on a matching color. I can't decide which RED is mine, dakota? CAR? hot rod? Here are some pics in different lights so you can help me chose.

This '93 red was either called Lipstick Red or Torino Red.

To me it looks like Hot Rod Red. I'm assuming it's an Indonesian Squier body? Take the body into an auto parts or paint store and try to match a spray paint cap to the body. Even if it's slightly off, you have 2 ft of space between, lol.

@covermego Yeah I thought about the hot rod red too, the race red is more "clear". Although any "red" will look differently on a picture depending on the type and/or intensity of light. Good idea about the autopart store thou! I have one next door.

EDIT: If yours is one of the "other reds" post a pic if you can, or if its just any red, why not!

Not really looking at deep ones, but if you like maroons, burgundys, or whatever other red, choose one of those options and specify. I know there are no pics of them on an actual instrument but we all pretty much have seen these, or can be easily looked up.

I really like the Race Red.
Might even buy a Squier Affinity because I never see a Fender with this finish.
