For clubs i use a swr 750 with a 4x10 goliath, for big sound i add a 2x15 and drop down to 2.5 ohms it gives me the best of both worlds fat and tight, when i do opening acts i use what they have as back gear, i like the eden gear, sounds just like my own rig, oh no did i just say that!!!!!!!!

I'm using an old 1970's Sunn amp with a 6x10 cab, its got all I need right now. I'm definetely going to consider a new Ampeg or SWR once the budget allows...

Interesting to see that peavey getting more votes than SWR, I never knew they were so popular.

ianyone know good music stores in the toronto area?

Man, Toronto is the best place for music stores. Visit Long & McQuades at 933(?) Bloor St. and also Steve's Music on Queen St.

2 Rigs used together. Rig 1. [rumble and shake] 2 ea. Fender 69 Super Bassman cab.s w/2 ea. 15" JBL D140f speakers per cab. Powered by a Hartke 7000 head.......Rig 2. [midrange punch] Hartke 4.5XL 4x10 cab, powered by Hartke 5000 head. Standing in front of operating rigs all night long could possibly effect your ability to reproduce. Very, very smooth and powerfull but a load to carry around.

Oh yeah, older than 16. The reserve of power lets the sound remain clean and distortion free even at high volume. Don't use the power all the time but when you kick it hard it produces loud and very cleanly. Also better reliability when you don't drive your rigs to the max. Rock hard all night and rigs just get comfortably warm not hot. Use the rigs every other week playing rock and roll and they haven't quit yet. Found combinations I liked and just kept adding to them. Depending on the place I use either one. But most of the time I use both.

C-E, have you ever used that rig? You're 16, right? Where can you use that much power?

Actually, you're right, I've never needed to really press my amp. I more just get together with people and jam then play out places. However, the one time I tried with just my 410TXF and Firebass II 700, I couldn't even get heard.

A lot of the places I jam at are basements. Between that and loud drummers, you need quite a bit of juice. :)

I'm sure less wattage would be fine, but I like the tone I get with both the 4x10" and 1x15" better. With both running, I don't really have to turn above 3-4 most of the time. :)

As a main rig I play thru a '73 Sunn Model T using KT90 tubes and an Eden 2-10XLT. I have another 2-10XLT for louder rock gigs. I also have an SWR Interstellar Overdrive (waiting for an amp). Sometimes I use an early 70's Hiwatt DR103. For musical/theater gigs and some recordings I use my '65 Ampeg B-15.

Can't tell I like tubes eh?
