Which Genz Benz Uber cab do you prefer...if you've actually had a chance to play one. The Uber 210, the Uber 212, or the Uber 410. I've read through the Uber 410 Thread, and have been following the Uber 212 Thread...these cabs sound very enticing to me. I have'nt been able to play one in my part of the country yet, but I may just have to get one sight unseen if they are as good as some have said. Vote for your favorite cab and please say what you do and don't like about each specific cab you've played. Thanks, Peace...DAcat

I got an extensive demo from Mr. Genz & Roger @ NAMM in January. They were demoing the 212/410 stack with the new Shuttlemax12. I had them unplug each cabinet to hear them individually. The low end of the 212 is so overwhelming that I could feel it hitting my chest like someone was pushing me. The 410 was full range was full range but with more upper mid detail, but it just didn't have the same extreme thick low end of the 212. The 410, by the way, was the biggest sounding 410 I've ever heard - I'm just not a 410 guy. They did not have an Uber 210 @ NAMM so I can't comment on that. My vote is for the 212 - hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replys so far...but I'm afraid so far its only made me feel like I'd need one of each  !! I just don't know if I'll be able to sample one before buying one. Since I have a GBE1200 head...do you all think there would be any advantage one way or another getting the 410 over the 212...ie, since the 212 is only rated at 600 watts would you worry about blowing the speakers all the time? Or is there any other reason that one cab may sound better than the other thru the GBE1200? Peace...DAcat

Please keep in mind that the 2x12 was on a carpeted floor. The 4x10 was on top. So, the 2x12 had a BIG head start in the "thick, bottom end" department.

I used to gig all the time with a GBE1200 into a single Neox-212T. ...which is also a 600 watt cab. If you want to, you can blow a 1000 watt cab with a 500 watt amp. It really depends on the player....how he eq's and if his expectations are realistic.

Hey!! I'm curious :help: with all your inside knowledge why you lean towards the Uber 410 over the 212....I mean you must have played :bassist: on these cabs way more than just about anyone!! What do you see as the main differences between the two...Peace..DAcat

well, in the end, I sign off on all gear before it is released. I was gigging with the Neox-212T...and, was very happy with it.

I wanted however, a cabinet with the smooth low end of a 2x12, combined with the punch of a 4x10. Also, I wanted to get rid of the mid "honk" that many 4x10's have.

That is what Jeff built. We went through several prototypes. The Uber I gig with now, in fact, was the second second or third prototype. It is the same as the one you can buy except mine, doesn't look as nice. It is rat fur with a metal grill. Jeff spent so much time on this cab, getting the low mids exactly where we thought they should be. He experimented with the baffle material, the port size, cabinet construction..... He and Scott (a great bassist btw), experimented with different spiders, surrounds, dust cap covers..... we experimented with how close the speakers should be to eachother....etc. Lots of work....and I think we nailed what we were going for.

The thing I like most about the 4x10 is that I can go from any room, any stage, and any band, and I can sit in the mix without any problems. .....AND, hear myself. This is with a four string Jazz bass doing slap or a Ken Smith 6 string.

The Uber 2x12 came about because customers were asking for it. They wanted something to go along with the 4x10. Also, Randy Jackson wanted a 4x10, 2x12 combo.

Its very personal but, if I had to go with a single cab, I'd go with the 4x10. If I could go with two though, I'd have a 4x10 with the 2x12 on the bottom.

Hi Hasbeen. :) Sounds like you've come up with something special. I'll be using a GBE1200. From what I've read -the Uber 410 is a really punchy cab with great solid lows that hit you in the chest. What would you expect the highs to be like...darker than the typical 410s, or bright and shimmery like many other high tech cabs?
Does it come with casters? What is the grill made of? Is the grill removable?
I'm full of ??? Thanks...Peace...DAcat
