Hey!! I'm curious

with all your inside knowledge why you lean towards the Uber 410 over the 212....I mean you must have played

on these cabs way more than just about anyone!! What do you see as the main differences between the two...Peace..DAcat
well, in the end, I sign off on all gear before it is released. I was gigging with the Neox-212T...and, was very happy with it.
I wanted however, a cabinet with the smooth low end of a 2x12, combined with the punch of a 4x10. Also, I wanted to get rid of the mid "honk" that many 4x10's have.
That is what Jeff built. We went through several prototypes. The Uber I gig with now, in fact, was the second second or third prototype. It is the same as the one you can buy except mine, doesn't look as nice. It is rat fur with a metal grill. Jeff spent so much time on this cab, getting the low mids exactly where we thought they should be. He experimented with the baffle material, the port size, cabinet construction..... He and Scott (a great bassist btw), experimented with different spiders, surrounds, dust cap covers..... we experimented with how close the speakers should be to eachother....etc. Lots of work....and I think we nailed what we were going for.
The thing I like most about the 4x10 is that I can go from any room, any stage, and any band, and I can sit in the mix without any problems. .....AND, hear myself. This is with a four string Jazz bass doing slap or a Ken Smith 6 string.
The Uber 2x12 came about because customers were asking for it. They wanted something to go along with the 4x10. Also, Randy Jackson wanted a 4x10, 2x12 combo.
Its very personal but, if I had to go with a single cab, I'd go with the 4x10. If I could go with two though, I'd have a 4x10 with the 2x12 on the bottom.
