If they pay me my going rate they can stand me in the car park for all I care. I haven't checked but the acoustics are probably better there anyway.

Been there. Ottos's in NYC. For some reason, one time we played there I ended up off the side. Didn't mind so much. More room to move without falling off.
Looks like a good time to engage The EHX Big Muff, Bass drop and Exit Stage Right. The Bass player has just left the building!I went to a bridal show last night and there was a wedding band playing. I'm looking all around for the bass player and then suddenly I spot him. I had to take a pic for you guys. I know the stage was a little small....but c'mon!
This sums up being a bass player. Kid was really good too and had a real nice LPB Jazz.

Yeah... I know. I've talked to some people about it... And, it will probably be stronger than it was originally. But, because this happened, I ended up retiring her, and hung her up on my wall. My replacement was a Geddy Jazz bass... It gave me the sound I had been looking for forever, so, it's all good. You know that can be repaired, right?
what's with all the drummers who feel the need to set up smack dab in the middle of the stage without regard for the other band members??!?!?!?!? Pet peeve of mine. Sometimes it makes the band look visually unbalanced from left to right. Sometimes it forces people of the stage, as with our well-bearded bass friend here in the photo. There's Plenty of Room on the stage in the original photo, the space just hasn't been used well.Although his space is limited, I can't believe that the drummer couldn't scoot over a foot at least.
That's my guess, that upstage beam/ceiling looks rather low. The sax player could have plenty of headroom back there, however. He may be too tall for that stage. There's no way I would be able to stand next to the drummer on that stage/riser.

My polka band has played a few St. Patrick's Day gigs at The Jazz Kitchen in Indy. The stage is so tiny we had to tell our keyboard player he couldn't play because he wouldn't fit. I stood inches behind our accordion player and I was just praying he hadn't eaten too much corned beef and cabbage that day.

Ohhh... Good point vvvmmm. Perhaps I will have a bit more urgency now. Thanks for the input. It strikes me that delaying repair could make it much more difficult if the wood dries ...
