Pork Loin mod

Thanks! Will do the mod today :)
Quick question about the stock cap - mine is "F83 102J", whereas earlier in this thread I saw the picture with "F87 102J" stock cap. Is there any significant difference between these two?
no. no difference at all.

Full confession time - I’ve tried to replace mine with “better”, more expensive offerings. Nope. Pork Loin kills them all. Sell other stuff if that’s an option!

For my needs, the MBD1 nudged it out. Pretty fully. Even still, I’m hella sad to see it go. But at least I know I have the knowledge to recoup it again down the road. What a great bass OD. One of the best imo.

I am very pleased with this mod! I like the character of the overdrive better + I think that "curve" and "tone" controls now have much more impact on the overall sound of the pedal! Overdrive is definitely more brighter and has more presence.

I guess it is kind a cliche thing to say, but my favorite (overdrive and in general) pedal became even better! :)

Haven’t tried that one, though I hear nothing but good things! It’s on my list when funds become available. (Which will be a while at this point.)

I have tried my Pork Loin up against these pedals (a few of which @johnk_10 has been involved in, sorry!), and it came out victorious:

Gamma Bass OD - The Gamma was a little too loose sounding, not quite the treble I wanted. I did keep it however, because it’s fantastic for old school light OD into some heavier dirt.

GK Rails - Another great pedal, but not tube-like. Not that a GK pedal should be tube-like. I actually have 2, since I snagged them both cheap. I use them as light OD and dirty boosts on my boards. Love them, but not for the applications my Pork Loin is for (OD style doom).

Darkglass VMT - Love their B3K for its more traditional metal tones, and always wanted a VMT. Got one, not quite the same tone as my Pork Loin, but very close. However, it didn’t react at all in the same way with my filter, so that was that. Also seemed slightly too trebly or not quite trebly enough and couldn’t get it just right.

Always wanted to try an old DOD Bass Overdrive, as I am an unabashed DOD fanboy, and they’re cheap enough to buy and keep even if I don’t use them much. I hear they’re pretty good for what they are. It seems they’re a bass oriented version of their FX50-B, which I use on my cheap guitar boards for classic rock type stuff.

Selling my pork loin guys. Need some money. PM if interested.

I know I am late - but sorry to hear. Your enthusiasm for this pedal in this thread it what pushed me to try it.

It is exactly the pedal I have been looking for, for years! So I really want to thank you for that

I bought brand new a few months ago and have felt no need to make the mod. Its plenty bright for my tastes

I run at 18V, have the internal OD trim turned most of the way down, Clean and Curve maxed, Tone at Noon, OD at 9 o'clock. Just sounds so natural, thick and juicy with a bit of grit.

It makes every amp and bass I own sound better. If I turn it off....it goes right back on pretty quickly

I'm gonna try running mine at 18v today. Didn't even know I could do that? I've got the mod on mine so I'll return here with what kind of difference it makes for me.
