Pork Loin mod

on the Pork Loin's pcb it's labeled C6. (the schematic's cap numbering system is incorrect).

i replaced it with a 35V 100uf one that's the same size as the original:

Right. I should have been more specific. The extra top end may have the effect of it seeming that the bass was reduced, even though it is not. Like how some high gain pedals add so much harmonic content in the highs and mids that lows seem to suffer, but are just obscured by the extra volume of the added frequencies.

If the mod reduced bass, I wouldn’t have done it.

I actually swapped the new cap for the original one after few months of use - the distortion was actually too bright for me, so I rolled the "Tone" knob back and realized that with these settings I got the sound of the original Pork Loin :D
But I don't use the pedal as a standard distortion, more like a preamp with "Clean" knob maxed and "Overdrive" between 11 and 2 o'clock. It's always on.
Also I found the solution for the clipping - compressor in front, with reduced level.

Very pleased with the overall tone :)

I had a guitarst buy one of the pedals modded by me (that's how I found out this) and after fiddling with few different cap values, he restored the original cap. His words are that the original cap was much better choice for his (soft) playing style and guitar (strat).

Just a reminder that because something is modded doesn't make it better, just different. It's all preference.
