I sanded it down with the intention of properly painting it, but the pattern was so crazy looking I decided to keep it this way (and I was impatient to install all the parts)

These mustangs came with nitrocellulose pearloid pickguards. Sometimes the guards' "gas off"(deteriorate) and in doing so they can melt finishes as well as eat away chrome or gold plating.
