Click on my signature. That's one of the bands. I also am currently playing with an improv jazz/fusion group or two. I just joined them, and the group's fairly new, so we don't have any sound yet, and I'm not in any of the gallery pictures yet. Foshama.com
I've also auditioned for a couple of reggae bands, and they all loved the bass.
AWESOME! The pickguard looks like compressed dogpoopie. The guitar humbucker tops it off. RIGHT ON!
EDIT: I CHANGED IT AGAIN!!!! : replaced the volume with switches (MUCH HAPPIER!!) took the contact paper off (EVEN HAPPIER!!!!) and put a hello kitty bandaid over the superfluous hole....(SUPER HAPPY BASS!)

this is what it looks like now:
this is "The Carpenter's Daughter". she was a fender Chinese-Squier, I sanded all the plastic off, hacked in a extra humbucker, amongst other things. My goal was to make a unique sounding, feeling, and looking guitar/bass. and also to make it look like it was made in shop class.(hence the name) (that's a masonite pickguard btw )It's tuned to D-A-E-B. and that's a banjo string on the end there. I drilled a hole to put in an extra tuning key for the banjo string.
( I won't go into the effects chain..)
I play alone with a drummer so each pickup has it's own out which goes to a Kb-60 and a mark VI (through 2 15's)

You people want character, check out this mustang circa 1968 i just let go a few weeks back:
These mustangs came with nitrocellulose pearloid pickguards. Sometimes the guards' "gas off"(deteriorate) and in doing so they can melt finishes as well as eat away chrome or gold plating.
I modded it to use with my band at football and Basketball games (I teach K-12 music and band). We are the Vikings, of course, and our colors are green n yellow... I added a couple pickups to the original single pup it had, and new pots. The old red finish took forEVEr to get off... it was TOUGH...
Should I post a picture of my ATK? I know a lot of people think they are ugly. Mine is all black with chrome hardware... the only "pretty" is a red hammer and sickle decal.

I'm cruising through here and not seeing ugly basses... I'm seeing some basses that I would bet sound pretty good!
Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Most of these are just destinctive. (though there are a few that are just ugly...)
So what do all the individual knobs and switches do? What kind of sounds can you get out of this baby? And do scallopped frets really make a difference in bends?

The funny thing is that I like that bass. I bet the guitar pickup sounds great up near the neck. I've done it a few times with a single coil Strat style pup and it sounds a little like Entwhistle's bass on 'My Generation' when they did The Smother's Brother's show.
BTW i dont want to take any credit for the next bass but i seen it played @ a show and it seems to fit the thread nicely. I just took the foto

Hmm. Doesn't quite look like the Peavy logo. It'd be funny if it read something like "Pervy" instead of "Peavy."
