This is my 1995 Ibanez Sr. I got it cheap and it was in a sad condition. I cleaned it up and replaced the electronics with EMG pickups and BTS preamp. The nut was broken so i installed an adjustable brass nut. Next i leveled the frets and now it sounds and plays like a dream. It beated my Stingray as my main bass. I love this kind of projects.

One of these years I'll take a picture of the fretless 'Bird with Alumatone pickups. It doesn't look too different from an Epi Pro IV, but it sounds completely different. Why de-fret a Thunderbird? Because it can be done!

Badass II bridge
Tuners, pots, knobs
Had to turn the LH nut around, rewire everything, shim the neck to raise it up enough for the thick Badass bridge, crown the frets and set it up.
It's a pretty awesome bass, plays nice and sounds good.

I remember you saying that you reshaped the headstock with a belt sander...Did you sand down and re-clear the whole neck?
Fender, in their infinite wisdom, does not offer a Sunburst and Maple 5-string. I wanted an American Standard 5-string, so this is built with 100% Fender American Standard parts, except I used Fralin standard wind single coils.

By the way, I decided to keep it "classicish" so I built a standard CTS and Swithcraft contol plate instead of the Audere.
The Audere went on this bass. Fender MIM Jazz V, Audere, SCN pickups, Warmoth pearl pickguard, Hipshot tuners.

My recent incarnation of my favorite bass, my beloved Yamaha BB415...
It's been a 5 string and a 6 string (sometimes going back and forth by swapping the nut and the bridge).

This is a Fender HM I picked up that had a little too much mojo for my taste. I swapped out all of the black hardware for chrome and refinished it in a silverburst.

Obviously, I have nylons on it. I think the chrome hardware looked better with nickel strings. I'm keeping the nylons on it. May swap back to the black hardware.

Here's my parts p-bass - Fender USA Neck, Squier Body with all routings copper lined, gold anodized pickguard from a Fender California Series bass, Schaller D-Tuner, early 2000's Fender Hot Rod P-Bass pickups with CTS pots, Badass II bridge and will be putting in a Stellartone Tonestyler Ten tone pot and dual concentric volume/tone pot next week.
Finally finished the bass. I swaped the Fender Hot Rod P-bass pickups with Fender Original 62 Pickups, installed the Stellar Tonestyler ten tone pot and dual concentric volume/tone pot. I love it - looks and tone!
Here are my 3 pickup experiments.
On a side note, I haven't spent more than $200 on any of the following basses. You'll probably be able to tell by my starting points lol.
First up is my most complicated one. It started life out as a late 80's cort p bass copy without any pups or electronics. My uncle gave me the neck and body for free.
The bass has 2 separate circuits- P bass and Active Jazz bass.
P Bass Circuit:
HWY 1 P pup
Basic vol/tone circuit w/ 500k pots.
J Bass Circuit:
Geddy Lee Jazz pups
Bassmods 3 band w/ tone control preamp
Both circuits go to an on/off/on switch to switch back and forth. It is an absolute nightmare of wires underneath the pick guard lol.
Second up is a Rogue SX100B (i think) that a friend gave me for modding his guitar. The P pup was in the perfect position to make a fake Stu Hamm Urge bass.
Custom Shop 60's jazz pups

Sounds exactly like a 60's jazz bass, except it plays like a $50 Rogue... lol. I'm probably gonna get rid of this one soon.
This is the worst and most hacked up haha. (This was my 1st modding project so I didnt know what I was doing). It started out as a $100 Rouge PJ you get off MF. I defretted it and replaced the J pup with 2 stratocaster guitar pups.
