Hello,

I usually don’t post threads besides classifieds or NGD stuff. Slow day at work today…

Let’s see some old Jazz Basses!

I guess we’ll say anything pre 1995 or something.

Post your bass, and what you like about it!

This is my 65 Jazz Bass. I like just about everything about it. I had it refretted and plek’d and with a set of Labella Olinto flats, it plays and sounds AMAZING. The weight is rather nice too at 8 pounds even.

Mine is exactly 1995, does it still count?

Have yet to take updated pics since I had some of the hardware switched out; these pics are from when I first bought her a couple years back (second-hand but all original) and changed the pickguard - she came with a tort guard, and while the white-and-tort colour scheme looked nice on its own, somehow it just didn't suit my vibe, so I reused the parchment guard from one of my previous basses. The only reason I haven't taken new pics yet is because I have some more mods planned for this bass, and would prefer to take pics only after having all of them done.

What I like about it so far is that it's "standard" for the time being; all my other basses have been modified to various extents for specific tones and/or styles, so this one is currently my "sessioning" bass, though of course that might change in the future once I have new pickups and whatnot installed.

65 (neck date, but 66 pots, so I guess 66).
Hippie refin and a repro guard. Otherwise all old. Def older than 1995.

And my workhorse 77.
Black over mocha refin, that's peeling off, BadAssII bridge, I have the original pickups but I put a set of EMGs in it.

And this beautiful Tokai from 1980 I sold like an idiot

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. What pickups are you going with?
