Post your old Jazz Basses

Here's my '60 Jazz I bought back in high school ('71) for $100 when a 60 Fender was just a used bass. It was quite popular to re-shape and mod in the early to mid 70's. And boy did I. BA bridge, brass nut. P pickup & series/parallel switch.
These days, because of a hand surgery and shoulder problem I play short scales, but it still see's some recording time and occasional gig.

See, now that’s a well loved instrument. That’s what it’s all about

I have a 69 Jazz being restored currently. A few routes to plug and strip a pretty thick black refin. Rosewood neck, stock brass nut, really nice bass. I was initially going to do CAR but I changed my mind and I am getting some type of sparkle Orange with maybe a parch guard instead! (My fave). I am just getting a little tired of all the usual investment colors and want to bring something different into the world! I will share pics as soon as I am able.

That’s a nice color! IMO nix the parchment and go pearl like the pic. IMO of course. Pearl just looks classy.

Yessir. I’m digging that orange. I’m digging your synaptic machinations. 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊/ 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊. (5/5)

This is my 1980 Fender Jazz Bass which I bought from the daughter of the first owner. Three grub screws in the bridge had to be replaced as those had broken heads and they were rusty and totally stuck; other than that the bass is 100% stock.

What I really like about it:
- asymmetrical soft V neck shape from nut to 7th fret, super easy to play
- perfect balance with a strap
- moderate weight for the era, 9.5 lbs
- very nicely done 3-tone sunburst
- great 70’s style Jazz Bass tones

Three screws replaced in the bridge?!!!!

Not original . Reject. Reject.

Nice try @Petethebassman, your bass is 100% original. I reject your attempt to say otherwise based on three screws!😍

Here's mine...an old partscaster. It's got quite a bit of player wear all over, but no huge dents or missing chunks of finish, so it presents well unless you're up close. It plays and sounds great! A fellow drummer/bassist loves this one.

Body: stamped "Chandler Industries, San Francisco". 70's spacing for the pickups. The grain is pretty straight so I assume it's alder. Really nicely done sunburst finish.

Neck: unknown...all identifying marks have been sanded off. The only one left is a pencil date on the neck heel from Dec 1984. The back of the neck is sanded down nearly to bare wood. It has a brass nut installed...not the cleanest job but it works well enough.

Pickups: they have large pole pieces and to me look like Duncan quarter pounders. They sound thick and beefy with a slightly rolled off high end...kind of like a P bass.

Tuners: unknown, I assume stock to the neck. They are kinda stiff and could stand to be replaced at some point, but I like the worn look of them.

Bridge: a bunch of parts I cobbled together to replace the cheap monstrosity of a high mass bridge that was on there when I got it. I put on a standard bent plate with some partially threaded saddles.
