and yesh.... first thing i'm gonna do after i see if i like it is crack open the B-hole Synthy Pedal and see if it looks safe to move it. hell.... even if it sucks i might try it.

Moving it is definitely something I've wanted to do for a while and will be looking into as well. The thing I'm not sure on is how to keep the hold function when moving it to a TBP switch.

but... sigh..... i TRUST in the Biggie Remote Controlled Chief. it's gonna be awesome. it's gonna make me dump every pedal that i paid more than $42.99 for into the garbage and set them on fire. and rock and all B-ringly board ALL THE TIME.

Even though I feel like I've been the great Behringer defender before, I'm not sure if even I'd go that far.

But here's my suggestion for when you get it. Put resonance around 9:00, freq around 2 or 3:00, decay all the way up to max, and then just flip through the modes. 2, 5 and especially 9 (pulse wave with PWM) are my favorites.

Behndy, don't feel bad about Behringer gear. I've been using the Bass Chorus and it's better than the DigiTech Bass Chorus, IMO. Although, it's not as thick as that cheap-y "Lyon" brand one you get at Target, that was my first ever pedal and I kind want it back... >.<

Chorus is gone/replaced by the circa-'78 modded-for-bass Muff, which makes the Hyper Pak look even smaller than it is. The Muff is still in a shoot-out against my also-new-to-me Devi Hyperion...

Any insight into what mods were made?

Not entirely, aside from better bass response in general - I got it last week in a trade w/Count Bassie in the classifieds pages here; the Count had the work done by someone in Texas (and recommended by Analog Mike, no less...). I knew going into the trade that the pedal has a couple of issues; the tone/bypass switch on the back panel is stuck in one position, and neither the tone or sustain pots are doing much...however, it DOES work as it is right now, just without much adjustability. I'm waiting for CJ (the guy in Texas) to finish moving his shop before sending it in to him for work...I'll post info as it comes available, if you'd like...

You could have dead pots or a bad solder on the pots if they aren't doing anything...It was like that on my P-bass. The pot went bad and the pot basically did nothing and I got bad "Razor's Edge." Replace the pot and no problems.

I've already has a couple of bad (I think they're called) traces on the board pointed out to me, which most likely has a lot to do with the issues; beyond that, and ATM, I've no real clue...my electronics knowledge would fill a matchbook and still have a page or two left over.

"razor's edge" is a common problem on passive basses with bad tone pots or bad solder on the tone pot, or even a bad capacitor. The filter basically fails, and your signal becomes harshly trebly all of a sudden and there's no filtering of your signal whatsoever. On the P-bass, I'd turn the pot down and it would POP and it would sound like the Pot was off. Turn it to one, and I'd hear a hiss and POP again, and it would be like the tone knob was on 23 or something (No such thing, but you get the idea ), instead of 10.

i was interested in the Octabass because of it's claims to handle doubles stops and sometimes chords without glitching.
