Thanks a lot man, its nice to get props once and a while... The pedalboard is going under some changes right now, I have a new 40"x24" ATA board. I am also going 99.9% analog, and creating some new signature sounds... Its fun, but very expensive...

My board is going through some changes as well. I decided to mod ALL of my pedals. It's a slow process but I will have a totally unique board when it's finished. I'll post pics but the mods are top secret. Sssshhhhhh.......

Well i have no pics yet but i am currently running --

Bass to:
Boss TU2
EBS octabass
Moog MF101 envelope
MXR M-80 (light overdrive/ picktone)
Fulltone BassDrive (Old school drive and hard drive)
Ibanez PD7 (insane drive)
Guyatone MicroChorus (hardly use it)
Boss LMB3 (compressor only)

i want to get some more drive like a big muff or a wooly mammoth or a depth charge or all of them.

I don't blame you. Finding your sound is hard.

I just got a pretty cool pedalboard. I'll post pics by Thursday.

I, too, used to think that bass effects were unnecessary, if not excessive. However, I got crazy one day and bought a DigiTech BP200 online. I worked with that thing for a couple of weeks, and learned to hate it! Well... I procrastinated too long and didn't send it back for full credit to the online site where I got it, so I ended up selling it to someone for a loss!

I went to DigiTech's website and discovered they have a "Chain Demo" site, so I checked it out. I listened to all of the examples, including the ones for little guitars, and I found myself really liking the "Fusion Bass" sound. So, I ended up getting those pedals, and the chain goes like this:

Bass Guitar >=> LoopMaster True Bypass SEND >=> Bass Squeeze >=> DigiDelay >=> Bass Chorus >=> DigiVerb* >=> LoopMaster RETURN >=> Amplifier

I really dig the sound! Now, if only my band mates will let me do a solo once in awhile... :bassist:

* The DigiVerb pedal isn't really part of the chain for the "Fusion" sound. I got it 'cuz I wanted it...

BTW... I use 9v adapters for all pedals... don't like dealing with batteries... 'cept for the one in my bass.

Okay, here are my effects with one of my basses. I don't gig but at a church and I only bring the chorus and preamp there so I don't have a board.

I'll list what tunes I use the effects for so I don't look like a gear queer :p

R to L

Comp: Almost always on
MXR80: Pre amp and boost
BSW: I kick in env filter for White Room, NIB, I'm Coming Home (sparingly during the middle part). I've tried Mr. Crowley and Have a Cigar with the "ai-ai" setting and it sounds cool!
Bass Driver: For most of my rock tunes.
Delay: Should I Stay or Should I Go, Police and Thieves, Sympathy for the Devil, I'd Love to Change the World (as an echo during the slow parts)
Chorus: Almost always on.

The pedal on top is my tuner. That's the new Fender PT100 that now incorporates a large alphanumeric display for key.

I'm always experimenting with the Delay and the BSW to keep things fresh. My bandmates don't mind. They live in my iPod ;)

The DigiDelay gives you almost DD6 performance @ a DD3 price.

It's in stereo. Short, Med and Long delay settings tweakable with the time and repeat knobs (up to 4 seconds and infinite repeats). The tape delay is probably the best setting. There is also a chorus like setting, a reverse and a loop setting. I haven't found a practical use for loop (yet). You can also dime the time knob and it works like a loop.

The Tap Tempo is easier to use than the Boss system.

I want another amp so I can run it in ping pong stereo! :bassist:

So you would suggest it? You said it's also a looper and a chorus too? And what is a "reverse." And one more thing, how does the tap tempo work if when you tap the pedal, it bypasses it?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, but i'm just wondering.

Yes I can recommend it. This level of versatility will cost me much more if I went Line 6, EH or Boss. The DT unit is $99.

Reverse delay plays the echo backwards ( I think MF has a few sound samples under their various delays). IIRC Damage Inc features that sound at the beginning. The looper is only a few seconds long. I guess a guitarist can find a quick riff to loop and layer on but I haven't had any luck as a bass player.

Re: The Chorus, it has a setting that can give you a chorus sound but it won't be as adjustable as a real chorus stompbox.

Tap Tempo is engaged via the pedal. The time knob is bypassed until you stomp on the pedal again.

Ahhhh... cool stuff man. I might just have to play one. This seems like a good time to ask what IIRC means (i've been wondering for so long!)? And this reverse thing means like, if I play E-G, it will go G-E?

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly.

And yes, the reverse delay is the signal played backwards. Remember those YakBak things from a few years ago? Like that. :p

Edit: I just want to add that the DigiDelay is a pretty cool pedal. I like how it will repeat the set amount of repeats after the pedal is turned off(DD-6 does this as well), unlike the DD-3 which cuts off the echoes immediately.

I use a VBass for my main gig, but I've got a lot of pedals and I sort of missed them so I bought the biggest pedalboard case at Rondo and spent days trying to figure out what went best and in what order. Even though it's a big board several of these pedals are also big so it filled up fast. I had to make tough choices, I left out my Korg G5 and my Adrenalinn, and surprised myself by going w/ the Axtron octaver instead of my standby Boss PS-3. Overall though, I found myself going back to pedals that I've used for years, even though I have other, smaller, pedals that do the same thing, they don't do it as well. Like I went back to the Hexacomp instead of my newer Digitech Bass Squeeze. It's a lot of fun, I think I'll use this board w/ my sub gigs.

The signal goes into a custom looper that Lethargy Tartare made. There's nothing in the B loop, A loop has the octaver and the Mutron in it. Then out of the looper into the Hexacomp, Deep Impact, TE eq, and finally the ART PhatBoy DI/preamp/fx. :hyper:

NICE BOARD! ive got a deep impact but the rest... *whistle*. hexacomp, mutron, trace eq... AND a korg g5 AND adrenalinn AND a PS-3... and a freaking vbass.. pedalboard of the gods.

hows that art multi? ive been looking for a smallish/cheap multi to put on my board.. thinking maybe a korg but that one looks nice.

Thanks! There's a few other nice ones that didn't make the cut, like a UniBass and a EH Bass Synth.

The ART is great if you don't think of it as a multifx. It's a preamp/DI that happens to have some effects thrown in. There is no control over effect parameters, only wet/dry mix. So, the chorus, flange, etc. are ok, but they can't be tweaked to be perfect. I don't use those effects much anyway so the ART is perfect for me -- the modulation effects are there when I need them but mostly off. It also does a "Growl" distortion that cuts most of your highs. It's comp is good but the Hexacomp is much more tweakable so it stays off. I tried using just a DI in that spot, but the signal wasn't hot enough to drive my power amp so I went back to the trusty PhatBoy.

Here's my pedal board. I try to keep things simple and high quality.

SKB SK-25 Board
Dual-relay powered true-bypass looper
Loop A: FX25B Envelope Filter
Loop B: Bass OC-3 Super Octave (for pop-synth bass tones-sweet)
Carl Martin Compressor
Raven Labs APB-1 DI (recent find--has a blendable side chain loop if I ever want another loop in the mix)

looks like a good start to what i know is going to end up a massive pedalboard :) i like your little 'art' pics too... one of them looks like it could be straight off the cover of an album. didnt end up buying the bass whammy?

Hey, thanks! Hopefully by Christmas time, this thing will be a monstrosity. And no, I figured that it would skyrocket into the hundreds, and I didn't feel like hounding my dad for his credit card, ya know?
