The EHX Frequency Analyzer is in fact not wired, I want it in // with the distortion and the G5, but the LS-2 only has 2 loops...

I have to make a custom looper for all this.

After many, many posts, and after much experimentation with the equiptment I already have, I've come to realize that the tone I've been seeking (thick and BIG) has alway been right there in front of me :eek:

I go Bass -> Boss TU-2 (tuner) -> NS-2 (noise gate) -> Amp

My bass is set as follows: neck position P style pickup (only) with tone completly rolled off
The TU-2's useage is obvious :rolleyes: and I actually like the way it kills some of the high end of my signal.
The NS-2 is just as obvious: to make the bass as silent as posible between notes.
My Amp is set: Bass-between 12 and 3 o'clock, Mid-between 12 and 2 o'clock , Treble-Completly cut (I really hate the high end ;) )

The only pedal I'll need to get is the SansAmp Para Driver. From what I've read about it here, it should be the perfect preamp/DI... :D (I'm going to replace my current amp with it)

I also have decided to play almost exclusivly with my fingers to get the bassiest tone possible.

Guess you could say I'm kinda kickin' it old school :p :bassist:

I forget where, but I read it in a thread here on TB. It's barely noticable but if you output through the bypass jack and have the tuner turned on it takes away some of the high freqs. I find it useful.

Used to use my wah for that. Still havn't decided on wether I like the sound of it rocked back or not, hence it's not in my rig.

How does that Warwick Pro211 sound? I've got the Pro410 but I need another cab for practices and to make my rig louder.

Forgot to mention about where my pedals went :scowl:

I found that the verb and dist filled out the guitar tone much better than the bass. As for the wah, I use it as a treble selector. I turn it on for a boost in treble and the dist goes from bassy and crunchy to trebly and fuzz-like! I haven't really gotten the hang of using it in solo form but I'm mostly a rythm man anyway.

The reason I took it out of the bass chain is that I was trying to use it as a low-pass filter but no matter what I tried it just never sounded "right" :( It was always too thin or to "strained" sounding :( I'd fiddle with it for a while, and get an OK sound out of it for the open strings, but then I'd play a note within the 1st to 5th frets and it would sound odd :( I've even tryed fiddling with the controll useing the fretted notes, but then the open strings would sound odd :( As a wah effect the CFH is GREAT (and I still recomend it because of the amout of control you can have on its sound), but for what I wanted, it blew :( And yes, I do realize that what I wanted to use it for was not what it was meant for :scowl:

So that's when I decided to redesign my bass chain using only the tuner and NS to start. I even flattend the EQ on my amp, also discovering that maxxed bass kills headroom :eek: . Because "thick" and "deep" tone was my goal, I started by completly rolling off the volume to the J-style pickup near the bridge and used only the P-style near the neck. That move alone cut down the amount of noise I got from the bass and gave me thicker tone :D The next thing I did was completly roll off the tone control. Again, I got a thicker tone with less noise :D The last thing I did is cut the treble on the amp, and boost the mids a little to more "define" my tone.

As a final "step", I searched :eek: the "effects" forum here on TB for info on the SansAmp Para Driver. From what I read it should be the perfect preamp for my setup as all the reviews said that it gave a thick, smooth, compressed type of tone. Just what I'm looking for :D :D :D :D :D /5

Hence my new (almost) complete bass rig:

For now I just take the TU and NS out of my guitar rig but I'm planning on picking up the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] because the difference in controls interests me. If I do pick it up it'll go in the bass rig, and I'll probably pick up another TU-2 just so that the bass rig is separate from my guitar one :smug:

But first I'm going to get the PD :D though I still won't be able to get the PD for a few months (if not more) :bawl: I'll let you guys know how it goes when I finally do though. Hell, I'll even record samples :smug:

EDIT: BTW I have nothing against FX, I found that I just don't need them (for bass anyway)

Here's mine, with working Big muff (cheers to those responsible - you know who you are!)
I'm more of a traditionally-minded-tone kinda guy, don't really enjoy using too many effects - so just a light fuzz through the ODB3, gives me a nice fuzzy wah - followed by a complete overkill fuzz/distortion through the Muff for those really heavy stoner rock passages.
The chorus was a random purchase, and seems OK for what it does, but may get swapped for a diff. pedal in the future.

Noticed that you use the EQ and ODB-3 to increase your high end (to get a good wah sound I assume) then you bring it down with the muff. Does that give you more of a lower sounding wah (I'd imagine it sounds more like "woh")?

And with all the high boost do you play with a pick or fingers?

One final Q: How do you find tuning with you tuner AFTER all your FX?
