Almost everyone I know who's tried the XXL loves it. It might be able to do the grindier stuff at lower gains, but to be honest, I don't really remember...I always had the gain at around 1 or 2 o'clock. I think you'll love it though, it's a fantastic distortion.

just re-wired my stuff again, the interesting part is my distortion setup

I have my signal split with one of them going into my little big muff (sus - 9:00, tone - 3:00, volume - 10ish), then the other going into a TS-5 tubescreamer (still finding a setting i like best, so far its distortion all the way up and tone most of the way up), then I have them running into the two inputs on my amp

there are other effects in there as well, but thats the part im focusing on right now, I'm trying to find that perfectly amazing distortion sound, and this setup is pretty damn sweet

on a side note, since i stopped comming here every day, I quit using and lusting for crazier effects... been mainly focusing on distortion...

i kinda want an eight string bass now though... (doubled... or not doubled actually, ill take either if offered to me =P)

I used to do this with my Big Muff and Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor, but instead of two inputs on my amp I ran them into stereo inputs of my DD-20 then split them back together after that. Made a huge noise the wall of fuzz from the muff with the note definition of the TF, and when you would use one or the other get an automatic clean signal blended right in. I eventually abandoned this in favor of a straight setup and a Micro Synth over the Muff. I found I didn't really need the clean signal blended in, I was getting enough bass through my pedals (more bass in the tube factor's case) and without the clean signal the effects were more prominent and intense sounding.

However I'm gonna get a pigtronix disnortion soon which has the parallel OD/Fuzz circuit going on again, so maybe a similar setup will be back on my board again.

Allright. Now I'm really done making boards! ;)

I bought a Gator Pedaltote w/ built-in power supply this week to replace my "flight board". Basically, my full size board is too big to fly to gigs with : http://home.comcast.net/~justifer97/pboard1.JPG
so... I made a thin plywood board to fit in my suitcase. It required using an additional bag to carry it as well as the use of 9volts, which I'd rather not use live. So I saw the Gator powered board at a local store & snatched it up.

I'm really happy with it. The power supply works great (I've done two live shows & recorded in a high end studio with it) and the board/bag combo design fits my travel needs perfectly! I was worried the power supply might be noisy & cause problems, but it is totally silent & buzz free!

I only had to add a couple of locking 1/4" jacks (I'm a stickler about these on my 'boards).

Anyway, I think my board construction is done..... - until I add a compressor pedal in the near future.
