It seems that any type of dirt I put INTO the filter gets completely lost, no matter how I set the sensitivity or attack. I don't know if that's the sound some people prefer, but I much prefer the dirt after more like a traditional "wah/distortion" sound. Maybe it's just me
....but I would like a wobbly, spacy, gurgling, filter sound every now and then.
I think what's happening is that the compression from your dirt is changing the sweep of the filter in a bad way. That's why the loop/trigger-input is necessary. Especially with the Emma or WMD filters, because they really are envelope filters in the strict sense, i.e., the level of the input determines the filter cutoff. If you had the filter cutoff being controlled by an exp pedal, or LFO or if it was a triggered sweep, you might like it better. Try splitting your signal before the dirt and running it to the WMD's trigger input. You might like it better.
I must admit that even with a loop, true envelope filters don't do it for me, I prefer a trigger'd sweep or LFO or exp pedal.
So I've changed my board around quite a bit, but this is my proudest moment. I stripped down to really only a few effects, the majority of the real estate is for acheiving "my sound."
Here's the signal path: Bass>Whammy>Punch factory (Punch factory is not first because I like to use the dirrect out to the mixer and I want my Whammy-ed sound to go there too) >Wah>Delay. From here it gets tricky: Delay goes into LS-2#1 input wich has LS-2#2 in channel A and nothing (for mixing dry signal) in channel B. LS-2#2 has Sansamp Bass Driver in channel B and Tube screamer>Sansamp GT2 in Channel A.
The Bass driver is set for over-drivin lows, and the GT2 is set for over-driven highs (lows cut all the way). When I step on the Tube Screamer (set for just about maximum gain) it only effects the GT-2. The low end of the Bass Driver is always present. So, I.m sort of using the tube screamer as intended - in front of a tube guitar amp. In any case, I'm vey satisfied with the grindy results. And with that clean blend from LS-2#1, it never sounds too, mid-scooped as Sansamp pedals tend to be.
The tuner is fed from the dry out of the whammy. Tuner is always on (no muted tuning for me).
So, dirty high + dirty low + clean full range = awsomenes!

I was thinking that when I first saw it...I'm getting that shape pedal so we'll see
4MS pedals of that size used to be built into junction boxes (my Trem Lune kit came with one), but not anymore. Now they're using Hammond 1690NS boxes (4.7x3.7x2.something). My Nocto had plenty of extra room in it for me to add stuff. I added a dry-out this weekend (useful to feed the MAM's trigger-in) and I'll be adding an exp jack for the pulse depth.

The Sansamp is borrowed from Katri and will be going back soon, I'm waiting to try the new Catalinbread bass OD before I buy one myself but seriously surprised by how much I used it, basically saved my life.
Strobo is from my normal board so I'll be putting it back on and getting a Pitch Black for this board.
I'll be getting another Noisebox for my normal board and completely changing it from what it was but this will be my grab and go, borrowed backline, other countries board.

I'm not surprised that you got so much use out of the SansAmp. I only wish I'd had one when I was in college and during the two summer tours we did. These days I rarely play through an unfamiliar backline so I sold my BDDI, but it's still a great tool.
I'm more surprised that the Noisebox made it on the mini-board. Did you get much use out of it live?

You need a delay pedal. The Bit sounds really good with delay.

I've got three delays. I'm waiting for Malekko's 919 delay to come out so I can put the MXR CC on this board

so your DI to the board is before your other effects? can i ask why you prefer that?
