So I've changed my board around quite a bit, but this is my proudest moment. I stripped down to really only a few effects, the majority of the real estate is for acheiving "my sound."

Here's the signal path: Bass>Whammy>Punch factory (Punch factory is not first because I like to use the dirrect out to the mixer and I want my Whammy-ed sound to go there too) >Wah>Delay. From here it gets tricky: Delay goes into LS-2#1 input wich has LS-2#2 in channel A and nothing (for mixing dry signal) in channel B. LS-2#2 has Sansamp Bass Driver in channel B and Tube screamer>Sansamp GT2 in Channel A.

The Bass driver is set for over-drivin lows, and the GT2 is set for over-driven highs (lows cut all the way). When I step on the Tube Screamer (set for just about maximum gain) it only effects the GT-2. The low end of the Bass Driver is always present. So, I.m sort of using the tube screamer as intended - in front of a tube guitar amp. In any case, I'm vey satisfied with the grindy results. And with that clean blend from LS-2#1, it never sounds too, mid-scooped as Sansamp pedals tend to be.

The tuner is fed from the dry out of the whammy. Tuner is always on (no muted tuning for me).

So, dirty high + dirty low + clean full range = awsomenes!

As complicated as that sounds, you have a very tidy set-up. You should be proud. :bassist:

I have a question for you synth/envelope lover guys....


How do you get the combination of fuzz/dirt to work so well before a filter? I've been messing with that for a while now, and it sounds like....well...just a dirty filter. I always still prefer the dirt after so it doesn't get completely swallowed up by the envelope.

Am I missing something or you just prefer the way it sounds?

I for one prefer dirt in the loop of a filter.

I am so very, very impressed. Really, fantastic setup.

Would you hate me forever if I more or less stole this idea from you? Because I want to very badly.

Well, I run either an electronix Messdrive Hybrid or Woolly Mammoth into my SYB-3. I guess I really just tweak the synth to a sharper waveform. That way, you get the effect of the real bassy fuzz with a synth sizzle on top. Does that help?

Well, sort of but the SYB is a synth. I'm trying to get some decent sounds from running either my Bassdrive, Depth Charge, Attack Goat, INTO my Emma or Fatman filters. I still find that by placing the dirt AFTER the filter gives me better results.... I dunno. Still experimenting, I'm not really a synth/filter guy but I'm trying to get into it.

GOtcha, I'm just getting into the filter thing myself. The synth has been the way for me for a while :)

It seems that any type of dirt I put INTO the filter gets completely lost, no matter how I set the sensitivity or attack. I don't know if that's the sound some people prefer, but I much prefer the dirt after more like a traditional "wah/distortion" sound. Maybe it's just me :hmm:

....but I would like a wobbly, spacy, gurgling, filter sound every now and then.
