I thought I was done with more effects until I plugged into a Fulltone Choralflange. Well, I think this will remain my main board. I have a few BOSS pedals (ODB-3, SYB-3, and DD-5) along with a SABDDI that can be swapped in if needed.

At least I'm done until I add a true bypass strip. ;) But then I'll have to build a whole new, larger board. This one's too big as it is!!!

Alright I'm really new and pretty clueless to pedals, switches, and effects. I've mostly just plugged into the amp and played straight. But now I have accumulated some pedals and I have yet to find a good arrangement that works well. Can an expert on here help me maximize the effectiveness of my limited assortment of pedals and switches? Which order should I put them in? Plug straight into pedals>amp or send/receive? I know I could probably use something to beef this up, but I don't know what. And before someone says freakin' "search" the forums, I'll say that I have and have found no one with a setup similar to mine. Most are too complicated for me to scale back and get an idea of what to do with my stuff. If you don't want to help, don't. But all help is much appreciated. Here's some pics to help piece the puzzle together. What would you do with this stuff? Help a clueless pedal effects newb... Thanks. PS... both the Fender and RIC are passive.

I would go:
bass --> Muff --> EQ --> chorus --> tuner --> amp

The booster and compressor should be traded away, and the AB switcher isn't useful with only one amp. Maybe you could trade all three of those for a Boss LMB3 or a BBE Opto-Stomp or an Alesis Nanocompressor.

I agree. You have a good start, but its much nicer to have a few quality pedals then a bunch of sub par units.

The Muff, tuner, eq and chorus are all pretty decent.

maybe get yourself a pedal board, some cables and a Godlyke or One Spot multi pedal power supply and your are well on your way.

But be warned, pedal collections are highly addictive!!!

I should just wait until I finish the pedalboard, but I am an impatient man.

I am buying a tuner in the next few days to add to this, but this is probably going to be my signal chain for a while:

Bass => Boss Super Chorus CH-1 => EHX Q-tron =(q-tron effect out)> Ibanez TS-5 => DIY Booster "!!!" => DIY A/B/Y Switch "Naby" => amp 2
=(q-tron direct out)> EHX POG => EHX LBM => "Naby" => amp 1

With the pedalboard I am going to get some of that stuff they use to cover amps (Tolex, right?) and make it look all fancy, maybe add some metal corner pieces or something... all the wood will either be covered with the tolex, painted, or covered with velcro. where the pedals are will flip up to store my power strip and cables and whatnot, and I still have to screw the lid together.

I'm going to post again when its done :hyper: :bassist:

Thank you very much to those who have responded. I should have added I do have a pedalboard and cables, and power supply. So, I'm covered there. I actually have been using the switch to have both basses plugged in for an easy switch. In theory that sounded cool at first, but really I don't switch in the middle of a set. I usually play one all night or switch between sets.

I have yet to put the muff first in the chain. I haven't been able to use that pedal without losing tons of low end and maybe your suggestion will help me regain some in the EQ. And funny you should mention an LMB3...I've been eyeballing one of those. But I need to get out of my Boss habit and try something else probably.

I like the board, SEV.
I toyed with the under-storage design for my board as well. I had a hard time keeping the board from being too deep while having a strong boardbase for the pedals. You've definitely got a sturdy design going. It looks like it will be a little heavy, but still a lot lighter than some of the mega-boards out there!

oh yeah, its a big boy... but damn do I love it!

I used it while creating a song with my band today along with my tubescreamer for some crazy twangy goodness, the band liked it :D :bassist:

but it by no means needs to be that huge, the circuit board takes up from all the way right to about... halfway between the direct out and effect out

I would re-house it, but its just got such a high mojo factor, I cant make myself get rid of it...
