Ummm...No, it's not. It's a Fender Mike Dirnt Signature model.

The '59 body is virtually the same as the standard P body being made today (more rounded edges, arm and tummy cuts, split-P pup). A '57 neck would have a maple fretboard and a larger headstock. The neck on your bass has a tele/'51 headstock and a rosewood fretboard. The body is based on a '51 with a '54 arm contour, a split P pup, and a tele/'51 pickguard. Along with the Badass II bridge, these are all defining features of the Dirnt sig model. If you paid a whole lot of money (like more than $800) for it because someone told you it was a "custom shop" product, you got ripped off.

Thanks for this info. I'm not a Fender player or collector and that bass belongs to a friend. I was going by what he had told me. It's been sitting in the corner (note the rack neck to my main work station... I play Spectors exclusively) of my studio for a month. Eventually he's going to come and get it.

I don't care for the shorter scale and the action is too high for my liking.

But thanks again for clearing that up. I'll pass that on to him.

Sorry! You can't see under my desk... my main monitor sits on top of a rack. I have an Mbox, a Behringer Guitar-Link (USB) and a video rack which has both midi/RCA and 1/4 jack in plugs in it.
I also have my router, etc.. there.
It's all hidden behind my chair.

You can see the black cable snaking the ground in front of the Mac? That's a guitar cable that I keep there for quick interfacing.
Yeah the Mbox is hidden by the arm of the chair. It sits right next to my router right under the keyboard.

I'm trying to figure out how to use the Fostex 16 track board with Protools. I have a friend who uses a 16 track board with his Mac.

Since this photo was taken I've moved the Ampeg SVT to in front of the Spector Rack and have the Fostex on it. And it's wired into my computer via MIDI.

And today I recieved a shipment of Spectors from the factory for Bass Player Live setup tomorrow. So my office is a wreck. But it looks cool with 14 USA Spectors sitting in it.

I just remembered...the pup on the Dirnt sig is a "Fender '59 Custom Shop". With the exception of Dirnt's personal basses, which probably are made by the Fender Custom Shop, the name of the pup is the only thing "Custom Shop" about it. The bass is made in Fender's Ensenada, Mexico factory.

That said, the Dirnt sig is a pretty cool mixture of features and parts unique to that model alone. My #1 is a parts bass built around a Dirnt body.

Now you can teach your buddy a thing or two about his own bass ;)

Currently i have a pretty simle setup, but it works good for what i currently do:

Guitars and basses:
Epiphone Sg with Seymour Duncans
Schecter Solo Elite
Epiphone Thunderbird IV
Schecter Stiletto Elite-4
Squier Jazz

Drums:
For drums i have my friend record using his set

Recording:
use a Compaq computer with audicity, and record using a Fostex MR-8 8 track

That's Birmingham Conservatoire!! :hyper:

I've just started my Music Technology degree studying in that studio :)

Change out the main monitors for some Genelec's and a new Mac Pro and it's basically the same :)

I work mainly out of bigger pro studios but for smaller budget stuff here's my home studio:

I'd list gear... but it's just... too much

Brady Drumkit handmade in Australia i believe?

By far the nicest sounding kit i've ever played/ or recorded... destroys all the d&w n ludwig kits i've tried used so far...

I'm currently studying Audio Engineering so all my major recording projects are done in the studios at my University. My home studio is used mainly for mixing projects for uni, doing the occasional recordings for friends and laying down bass for other recordings.
I run everything on a 2GB macbook:

I'm a Reaper user, a bit of a Presonus fanboy, have a bunch of mics in a bin. My buddy's JCM2000 head and cab are in the next room getting mic'd up. The P7000S is for sale or trade. I'm not sure which I like more anymore - recording or playing. Both, probably, dependent on how many stairs I have to lug the GIII for a gig...
