It isn't much, though. I have the software bundle that came with the Behringer UCA222 interface, and I have a Behringer UB802 mixer which is not visible. I have my Peavey Windsor, my Acoustic 260 cab and head, my friend's DigitechRP200, and my trusty steeds, My Hammond L-102 and my Fender Standard Jazz Bass. The computer I use for recording is a eMachines T3418, slower than hell with graphics so bad I can barely read what I've just typed, and the DAWs(somewhat) are Kristal and Cantabile Lite, both freeware. I have close to 100 VSTis on my computer, from Modular synths to pipe organs, controlled by the Casio LK220 on top of the Hammond.

Also visible are a lot of my horribly painted model airplanes in the background.

just did some rearranging. Mix position now facing center of room rather than the window. It's not the "right way" to do it, but I'm finding that the sound from my monitors is more clear and open, and comb filtering does not seem to be a problem with the big homemade velvet curtains behind me.

Well this is my room right now.

it doubles as my bands rehearsal spot... not the best room, its L shaped and that makes it difficult to fit everyone in and still be able to see everyone.

works fine as a recording studio.

Just had a look at your old pics and these updated ones. I have to say, I love everything about your studio space. The instruments you have around, the layout, the records (I saw PC's Bass on Top) Everything that contributes to the whole vibe of the place. Looks like a great environment for creating music! I hope to have a place like this one day!

sure. very good inspiring spaces for creativity. I would come there to record due to Magic of Recording lives there. As any performer asks to perform very intimately. Bravo!

My garage/man-cave recording space...

Since we moved into our current house in July 2010, I've been slowly putting together this space and making it usable for recording. I have a lot more things I would like to do to improve things (insulation and isolation), but so far, it's been fine for not-so-serious recording and mixing. Coming from a small corner of a condo, just being able to have half of a two-car garage to do what I want with is a treat.

Fender Jazz Bass w/round wound and Rogue Bass (cheap but I love playing it, and it stays in tune all the way up) w/flatwound.

I play into a Fender Bassman 350w.

My main 'box' is the Line 6 UX8 which has very very good AD/DA converters for a box in its price range (believe it or not) and total flexibility as far as routing options with very low latency. I have never had any problem with the USB nature of this box, even using every channel at once, it never hiccups.

I also use ART duel, TPS, and TPS II preamps as well as the beautiful ART duel LEVELER, and ART's TCS compressor/limiter. Occasionally I use the DBX 266xl compressor. All the ART stuff has hand selected tubes, some really clean and some gritty, depending on what sound i want.

My favorite chain is bass ----> art tube pre ----> SPLIT one is a DI track into the UX8 line, and the other goes to the Fender Bassman amp, which I mic with SM57 or a CAD (forgot the model number) mic and blend as needed with the DI.

I record with Cubase always at 24b48k, sometimes 96k if it's acoustic music.

For mixing my multitracks, I prefer out-of-the-box so I send 8 stems to my Yamaha mixer and mix those 8 tracks down to a 2-track stereo recording that I record back into cubase at 24b/48k (or 96)

Then I do any needed EQ or additional compression with Abbey Road Plugins.

Thanks! It's funny, I called up this thread to look at some more studio setups. I wanted to rearrange mine. And then I saw your post!!

That doesn't make it any easier to now pull everything apart! Oh well, time to get the measuring tape out.
