Post YOUR ugly bass.

I "improved" a no-name P bass many years ago, "because it felt like a good idea at the time" ... from a distance not to bad maybe, but the ugly is in the details. ;)

I dont know what you're talking about man, that thing is pretty all-around sexy.

I think all my basses are pretty ugly, but in cool ways I guess. One of my T-40s is pretty beat up and missing knobs and stuff, I might post a picture tomorrow.

View attachment 645834 There can't be a rule against THIS. Pic and a description - here's mine. '73 P neck, '74 J body. The former owner apparently stripped the body, and filled the holes with wood putty, never sanding down the holes. Then he put what looks like bar table-top finish - REALLY thick. Of course it cracked all over. 12+ pounds.

Looks like !@#$@#$~. Plays and sounds like a dream - I tune it every six months, whether it needs it or not. I've had it since 1982. Feel free to call it ugly

What you got?

@SirMjac28
@BassFishingInAmerica can you top it???

Sorry you feel this way, I will take it off your hands

This is one of my basses. Not exactly ugly, in fact she looked like a supermodel in the 80s but she's still got the big hair and shoulder pads and hasn't really aged well.

It's a Palm Bay Atlantic. I got it from a now defunct music store just half a mile from home. It's active, with volume, pan (that works the opposite way to what you expect...roll it forward and it brings in the bridge pup) and a concentric Bass/Treble cut or boost. It has a nice fast neck (but needs the 19th fret levelled on the G string because it chokes), and a low action, but the neck has quite a bit of flex...it feels as if it could do with a couple of graphite reinforcing bars (I very much doubt that it already has them). It's also a weird bass in that it sounds fantastic (can sound very Rick like, which is why I bought it as a backup to my 4001), but only when it's wearing the freshest of fresh strings. Strings die on this bass quicker than any other...again, I think a stiffer neck might enable it to hang on to a bit of zing for longer.

I don't use it much anymore. I might have considered spending some money on it but I'm more into fivers these days.

All that bass needs is a tort pickguard and a black pickup cover

I can't believe no ones invoked "the rule" about ugly threads...... maybe there's hope for talkbass after all!

If it's about your own bass, then it's okay. Any posts that post images of other people's basses will get deleted or get the thread shut down if they persist.
