View attachment 645834 There can't be a rule against THIS. Pic and a description - here's mine. '73 P neck, '74 J body. The former owner apparently stripped the body, and filled the holes with wood putty, never sanding down the holes. Then he put what looks like bar table-top finish - REALLY thick. Of course it cracked all over. 12+ pounds.

Looks like !@#$@#$~. Plays and sounds like a dream - I tune it every six months, whether it needs it or not. I've had it since 1982. Feel free to call it ugly

Unless ugly=character I'd say about 99% of these basses so far are not at all ugly, especially yours bd.

Thanks - I gotta get a closeup of the body so you can see all the cracks and how lousy the wood filler job was done - might change your mind. But is sounds wonderful.

I don't think there is such thing as an "ugly" bass. People post photos of beat up basses or basses with mismatched colors. To me, that's not ugly. That's absolutely gorgeous ! That's personality !!!

Good attitude. Had a friend that thought every female he saw was 'kinda cute' and ranked them as 9's or 10's. He's blissfully going through life surrounded by beautiful women.

Don't have it anymore, but I used to own this beauty. Totally beat up 92-93 MIM Jazz, cracked body, hideous oil finish, wonky tuners and all. Had an EMG J set in it, and sounded like the wrath of God

Old Ibby RD-707 with the horns reshaped a and the P route filled and routed for a J - poorly. I think it's on it's third different paint job.

I would add a pick guard to cover up the bad patch and dye the fretboard darker.

Thanks to people that have reported this thread, but it's okay to call your own bass ugly.
Also, this thread won't be a trap to catch people calling other people's basses ugly; based on the theme of the thread, I don't think the owners that post their basses here will be offended.
