I have five basses right now. But I think I could reduce it to even one bass only if I wanted as I don't feel the need for myself to cover all styles of bass sounds. I have a Gibson Q-80, limited in sounds, but I like the looks and the playability, Hamer Chaparral, nice sound and playability, great looks (has a quilted maple body), Gibson RD Artist, great looks, my only bass of the 70's which I like so much, can sound brutal, a heavyweight, Fender '98 American Deluxe J, my main bass, I like the looks and sound, it is lightweight, a nice bass, and at last another American Dlx J ('06) but fretless, nice one too but I like the '98 one a bit better. Well, these basses don't seem that popular here (especially the Hamer and the Gibson Q-80) but they keep me GAS-free. I also spend quite an amount of time with playing guitar and keyboard.

I think my collection is fairly well-rounded. If there's too much redundancy, I thin the herd. And of course if there's a glaring omission, that must be immediately remedied.

• 78 Fender P-bass w/ flatwounds. Gotta have that.
• Steinberger XP-2. Good for travel and a nuclear winter-proof backup axe. Also works nicely on Jazz gigs, who'd have thunk?
• 78 Fender Musicmaster. Kind of the odd man out. But the vibe is way fun. If I'm thinking about selling, I play it out for a set and that takes care of that.
• Nash '60s Jazz - the current workhorse.
• Warmoth "wide" 5-string w/ Bartolini p/u's & 2-band preamp. Nice to have at least one active bass (this one's pretty versatile) and 5 strings for certain occasions.
• Yamaha BB5000AF. 5-string fretless. Got to have a fretless, might as well be another 5'er while I'm at it.

Could probably squeak by with a couple less... Or a couple MORE Might try another 6-string when I have the buj. (Won't be this month... )
