First time I've ever owned 6 basses at the same time. The beauty of this collection is that the last 3 basses listed here cost me less combined than any one of the first 3 on the list. Thats how I was able to add 5 basses in 15 months without getting my head chopped off by my wife.

I'm only in 1 band and we play hard rock/metal originals and covers so I really dont NEED a huge palette of tones at my disposal. But between all these basses, I can generate a lot of tonal variety.

Here's my stable, with the reasons behind the bass. No family picture right now, but I am currently looking for another 4 string Fodera, and when I find one I'll probably take a new family pic.

The MK is also on loan to my brother ...

This all helps with self-justification for owning too many basses ....

G&L USA L2000 - my all-purpose bass - good for copping a variety of tones, easy to play, durable, sounds great, good for jam sessions, pick up gigs, playing in less reputable places

Fender Jazz Bass Special (the Duff bass) - keeping because it's my first "real" bass - sentimental value only

Fodera Monarch 4 - my "nice" 4 string, for Jazz and corp gigs. Can cop a variety of tones with this, plus it is fantastic to play

Sadowsky NYC 4 - my "other" nice 4 string, bought simply because I really, really liked it. see "Fodera" above

1972 Fender Jazz - I was born in 72 - sentimental reasons. Plus, it's got tons of mojo

Fretted USA Jazz - for Jazz gigs that the Fodera isn't appropriate; also somewhat of an all-purpose bass

Frettless USA Jazz - See fretted USA Jazz

Warwick Thumb 4 - bought this on a whim; currently strung with flats, does a GREAT upright-like tone

John Suhr 4 fretless Jazz - for when I feel like Jaco

Zon Hyperbass - because there's nothing like a Hyperbass

BSX EUB - Jazz gigs where an upright is appropriate, but I don't feel like hauling my real upright

German upright - jazz gigs that *need* an upright

Michael Kelly 5 string fretless acoustic bass - acoustic singer/songwriter type gigs

Yamaha TRB 6P - my main axe, my go-to 6 string - I play this almost everywhere

Steve Bailey Sig Aria 6 String Fretless - when I need a fretless 6 and don't want to take my F Bass

F Bass 6 string fretted - jazz, fusion

F Bass 6 String fretless - jazz, fusion

Did I mention that I was looking for a 4 string Fodera?

Also - amps are well rounded as well -

Acoustic Image combo with extension cab for small gigs/upright

AI head and pair of Aggie 1x12 cabs for jazz/medium gigs (just because I love the sound)

Roland D-Bass combo with extension cab for medium gigs

Eden WT-800, 2x10's and 4x10 stack for medium/large gigs

Did you get a good deal on the batch because all of the pickups were put in wonky ?

Don't mind me, just having a pang or two of jealousy. Still, you're gonna need to get a couple more cats in there, if you want to truly rival John Turner .

here's mine.

the bass on the left is what i practise on mostly.its made in korea but is actually a very good bass appart from the electronics which i ditched and installed bartollinis.out of the 4 basses this is my favourite sounding.

the ric only comes out if i want to look at it or if a mate wants too look at it.lol.only bought it because the price was hard to knock back.

the next bass is a super cheap chinese piece of junk that i defretted and installed seymor duncans in.very nice sounding and on a budget.eventually i'll get myself a decent fretless but this was a good way to introduce myself to fretless playing without forking out too much dosh.

the geddy is a good allrounder

I am truly amazed at the tones that my herd provide me. The Dingwall part of my herd is the main part of my tone vocabulary, but I own and cherish several other great basses, that could not fit in the picture: Ritter Roya, Ken Lawrence Brase I (first ever Brase), two Foderas, two Status basses, a Warrior (just to name a few)
