Powering Markbass Compressore

That's a great power supply and compressor. I've had two of them, original version and v2. Sometimes wish I still had one, but the LA-1A does fine.

You should be excited!

Yeah I’d love an la-1a but can’t justify the price at this point. I got the Compressore for $85 off eBay, pretty much mint condition, so hard to justify about any other comp right now haha

I ran my Markbass Compressore at 12V 400ma for about 10 min and it killed the thing. I used a Y cable with my Decibel 11 Hot Stone Deluxe assuming it was 800ma, but apparently even though this PSU is isolated, there is a hard limit of 400ma total for 12V.

The tubes glow on the MB, but it won't power on.

Edit: Ah, I have the voltage-doubling Y cable, not the current-doubling. So it was running at 24V. Any tips on where I should start looking would be greatly appreciated.

Yeesh. eBay?

Love the CIOKS but that’s the risk...always gotta be sure you have the right cables and dip switches...
It came with the PSU, but I didn't realize they make two identical looking cables, one voltage-doubling and one current-doubling. I'm just an idiot and didn't test the cable with my multi-meter *before* plugging it in. Everything points to that IC though so it's possibly an easy fix.

I've been running my Markbass Compressore using a dedicated power supply for years now but I just ordered this guy:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CTDS3JY?psc=1&smid=A1FM15L3N56Y99&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp

Chinesium I know, but it claims to have two 12V outputs rated at 350mA each, so if the specs are to be believed, with a Voodoo Lab Current Doubling adapter, I should have enough juice to run it.

I think I'll hook up an Ammeter and a dump resistor selected for 650mA at 12V to see if the supply keeps up with that before I plug my Compressore in.

Hopefully it works!

I'm excited.
