Practicing with headphones

I've been looking at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] for practicing with headphones. Looks interesting. Got me wondering if any TBers have experience with one of these, or maybe another product that I'm overlooking.

So... do any of you TBers have experience with one of these, or maybe another product that I'm overlooking?...

I prefer a cheap mixer. This allows me to mix in several different sources and output to headphones or an amp if I want to.

But if you need portability, the Big Head may be a better solution.

I hate practicing with headphones for whatever reason. I need space And air between the speaker and my ears. It’s a horrible “habit”. I’m looking at a boss gt1-b to help me break it

I practice with headphones out of my HX stomp... an expensive option but it works well, I can even play phone or computer via usb through it as well

I just use the headphones and aux-in connections on my amp.

I currently have a Vox Amplug 2 (AP2BS) for headphone practice. They're pretty good.

Looking at an Ampeg SCR-DI for another use sometime soon, but that will probably take up most of the headphone duty, too.

Playing unplugged is great at hiding all the extra noise you make.

I use a Tascam MP-BT1 MP3 Bass Trainer when I'm not at my desk in a the rehearsal studio. You can load songs, play bass and combine the two. It has a horrible bass effects section and isn't very good at hiding any short comings you playing may have (that's a good thing!), but it will allow you to slow down and loop the source material, for easier learning. For probably less than half the price of the HA-1 it's a great learning tool, especially on the road. If you looking for the pre-amp features of the HA-1, it's no contest, got with the Phil Jones.

I think it is a great way to practice and learn new songs. I have a Cafe Walter and use it everyday.

When I don’t want to disturb others, I plug headphones into a Zoom B1on ($50-ish). I tried an Ampeg Bass 2 but i couldn’t stand the background hum when I wasn’t plucking.

I use my Line6 HD500x and some inexpensive in ears I got from amazon for under $40. Sound is stellar.

Hooked up via usb to my Mac. And a beat buddy to the aux in.

All the parameter editing is done on screen.

I am still a big fan of the Zoom B3, but it lacks an aux in, only usb for playback. On the up side it has rudimentary beats and a decent looper. It’s not as complex as the HD500x, but that’s sometimes a good thing. Very portable, tough, and even runs on double A batteries.

I used to have a small mixer with various playback devices hooked up.

I’m almost always using in ears or headphones, it keeps the peace, and cuts down on distractions. Like neighbors knocking on the door. Dogs barking, phones ringing. Kids asking for stuff.

It took me a while to mute all the connectivity my Mac wants me to have, but now I don’t get alerts, messages, phone calls or texts noises.

Just about any interface will work. I use a Behringer MA400. Cheap, works great.

I use headphones with my Fender Stage 800.

I use one of their old guitar trainers. Plug the phone through the line in, and use Robick or JamUp XT to slow the music down.

I use the Big Head every day. One of the best purchases I made this year. Ideally, I would practice with an amp but really don’t have a choice living in an apartment building in Chicago.

I want to practice using my Ampeg B18, like I used to. However, for the past few years, I've been either practicing unplugged, or using my Sony headphones with a bass rockman!
