Those are fantastic strings!
Still wishing they made a 50 G
I just feel that 55 is too much and 45 is too little but 50 is perfect! What's wrong with the '55? I like a meaty G.
Put them on the p bass or i will hunt you down and take them from youThey have arrived!
Not opened them yet, but I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I'm playing in a reggaeband now and was wondering if I should put them on the J or the P...
Put them on the Jazz, and I will hunt down shawshank72 and foil his dastardly plans to take them from you!![]()
So now what do I do?![]()
EDIT: The reason for 'switching' is that I have a bit of trouble with my P/bass with flatwounds. In the lowest register (E-string frets 1-3) they feel weird, as if there's friction or something. A bit 'dead spot'-like without being a dead spot. I can't really explain.
Let us know or at least let me know how they feel on a few weeks.Okay! So I've put them on my... {drum roll} P-bass! Why? Because I can't find a darn hex key to adjust the string height on my '09 American Std Jazz Bass! If someone knows what size I need PLEASE TELL ME!
But now to the good stuff:
-Are they zingy? YES, but this time even the zing is balanced, the E has tad of zing as well. Will die out in a couple o'weeks. But the D&G have lost their 'glass', it seems!
-Do they feel meatier? YES, espcecially the G. It now feels as if there's actually a string there.
-Do they feel sticky? YES, a lot of sliding resistance!
-Did it fix the 'deadspot problem' (see a couple of post above)? IT APPEARS SO. With the old E, the string has only 1.5 turn around the post before going to the nut from above the initial point were the string entered the tuning peg, so with a small angle. I've now given it more turns (about 3.5, a lot yes) and it now comes from under the tuning-peg entrance and with a bigger angle towards the nut. THIS IS ONLY MY THEORY
I'm CONFIDENT and SURE that the 'negative' things about the strings now (the zing and the stickyness) will fade away with time/playing. Time will also be the verdict on the "deadspot" problem. I'm really looking forward to breaking them in properly, to feel/hear the REAL difference betwee the 45-105 and the 55-105. For NOW, I consider it a upgrade.
Thanks for your time, to reward you for sitting through such a long post in slightly broken English (not my first language), here's a potato:

EDIT: A head's up: I DID not need to adjust the setup because of the change of gauge (for now)

Nope, that was my fault. You sent your address over and it got lost in the pile that is my desk. My apologies; it'll go out today.
1/16" I do believe. Either way, do yourself a favor and just pick up a set so you have ever size you'll ever need.
