Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

We are the GHS evangelists. Un invited. Un compensated in any way. Hell, we don't even get free t-shirts much less free strings. We do, however, tell the truth. That's important. You may believe it, or you may not. Makes No Nevermind. (that's a southern phrase).

My P Flats will still stay in the drawer after I take them off. I know what you're going to say about that because we've been over this before, but I def want to keep them around for if/when the mood strikes me again. :)

Ok I know what I'm going to do.

Jazz Bass will get the set of Round Core Boomers I have sitting in the drawer.
Slightly used PWs from Jazz Bass will move to P Bass.
P Flats from P bass will move to drawer.

The GHS shuffle.

Here's my GHS shuffle for the next few months...
  • The PWs on my J (now 14 mths old) will be replaced by the Brite Flats, which were on it only for 3 wks last summer. I'd like to give them a second chance by keeping them on for longer than 3 wks this time around.
  • A brand new set of PWs will replace the P Flats on my P on June 25, when the P Flats will be exactly 1 yr old.
  • A new set of Progressives will go on my Yamaha 5-string when I'm done with my 3-mth test run with the Bassics.
This means as of mid-August my three basses will have three different flavors of Alloy 52 variety.

Most appropriate. Why Wait? "Nickel-Iron Man" it is! Now live up to it.

Real glad this thread is still active and not dead after my search to know more about these strings from other players. I haven’t read all 85 pages to know if these strings have a modern tone to them rather than being “thumpy” and “dark” like what others have commented as I skimmed through some of the pages.

I’m coming from playing EB Cobalt Flats for 4 years and would like to know of anybody experiencing these flats in top 40, modern pop music today?

They are more "old school" than "modern" - nothing like the EB Cobalt Flats. Warm and woody with a focused low-mid punch, they're not quite as thumpy and thuddy as the La Bella DTF's.

I've played a few more gigs on my P w/ Precision Flats lately and I'm starting to second-guess this.
I think the Jazz will still get the RC Boomers, but the flats may stay on the P a little longer, especially with some country music recording sessions coming up.

I’ll give the GHS flats a try anyway just to cure my curiosity that’s been on my mind. I’m looking at the light gauge for starters after reading about the string to string tonal balance.

One can never have enough P basses for all the different flavors that are equally delicious. ;)
