Prestige bass

The Prestige is their (nearly) top of the line, and very nice indeed.....looks like all of them are wenge tops though. If yours isn't wenge, it's probably not a Prestige. I covet the SR5000. They also have the "Premium" line, which is pretty much boutique level. My only criticism, if you can call it that, is that Ibanez has almost too many models, it's confusing. I have yet to pick up any Ibanez bass, regardless of model number, that wasn't a superb bass. The super-slim necks and ergonomics fit me like a glove.

There's solid ash ones, mahogany, alder, wenge, bubinga, etc. The wood entirely depends on what guitar you buy. For just about every model/series there are entry levels, premiums, and prestige models of the same series.

The sound gear basses are all different, but they're all the same series. Sound Gear (SR). There's a whole lot of Ibanez guitars that aren't Sound Gears.

Once Upon A Time, every Ibanez guitar and bass was a "Prestige". They were all crafted in the same factory in Japan back in the day.

Still, today's Standard and Premium instruments are really very well made. Five piece necks and beautiful fretwork, level fingerboards, close tolerances on the fitment of everything, and usually decent setups out of the box.

IMHO, yes you get what you pay for with Prestige line instruments, but with current Ibanez Standards you often get more than your money's worth.
Not just a great instrument for the money, but a great instrument.

No, I don't work for Ibanez or any guitar dealers. :D

For those that like skinny necks, Ibanez is definitely a bass you should consider. For those of us with huge hands (skinny necks slow us down, as our fingers are crammed together), we have to go elsewhere. In my next life, if I end up with small hands, Ibanez it is.

Small Handers Unite! Our eventual World Domination is assured, as our once-manly mitts devolve to thumb-typing on phones. :D In my case, thumb joint arthritis makes chunky necks painful. Ibanez seems to have mastered a STABLE skinny neck.

It's a B-stock premium 1205

The B in front means B-stock

The 1205 is a premium model 5 string Sound Gear bass

The last letter/letters are usually the finish number. Whatever that means for your particular bass, I'm not sure
I found SR1205. Its mahogany body with an ovangkol top does look like the SR5005 Prestige. The latter, though, has the mahogany sandwiched between a wenge top and back. The man at the gig wasn't far off.
