Also on a side note, many of you are confusing the rapture and the end of the world. The Bible does not teach that. It does teach a rapture will happen, then a 7 year period of tribulation before Christ returns and sets up His kingdom. After He reigns on earth for 1,000 years, He will actually introduce and new heaven and new earth. The word though in the original language when talking about new is not necessarily meaning new as in different heaven and different earth but can also mean new as in the current one we live in will be made new again or re-created for all of eternity so technically, there may never actually be an end of the earth.

Now for those that have said insulting things to us that believe the Bible, first off, thank you for showing some respect for something you may not agree with. I'm sure if I came on here and said the same exact things I did not agree with, I would be banned or have my posts removed. I'm not saying this to start a flame war but instead, how about asking someone as myself why we believe what we believe and do we have any hard evidence as to if it will happen or not. You may be surprised at what our answers would be.

Ive not heard anyone say the world will end in 2012. What I have heard is that the cycle of the Mayan Calander comes to an "end" (not truly an end, just the beginning of a new cycle). The ending of this cycle marks the end of the Pices Era as we move into the Age of Aquarius. The Mayans did not say that the world, civilization, not even their civilization would come to an end. All that is conjecture based on what happens when an Era ends. The truth is, we dont know, it could be something, it could be nothing. All we do know is that our planet will supposedly align differently with the Kosmos than it currently is in its present state.

I believe I answered this question later in the thread.

Now for the record, like any religion some of AGW's moral suggestions have some moral value. I do think as a whole we are a gluttonous wasteful society and I do think that we would live far happier, fulfilled lives if we were encumbered with less stuff and used the resources of the planet more wisely. But I'm not stupid or arrogant enough to believe that changing my lightbulbs is going to make one degree of difference in temperature of the planet.

I also would suggest to that in many cases people who are living their lives really expecting the rapture any day are far less likely to steal, cheat on their wives, or engage in behavior that might provide them with a maximum amount of embarrassment should they be beamed into the sky in the middle of it.

OTOH, I believe fear as a motivator is certainly not the "gospel message".

Like all religions the AGW crowd and the Rapture crowd both believe they are saving the planet and making a difference one person at a time. And many in their self righteous midst are endowed with an arrogant sense of moral superiority that is irritating to the umpteenth power. The only difference I see between the religious faith based content of "Left Behind" and "An Inconvenient Truth" is that Al Gore ranks a few degrees higher on the pompous gas bag preacher scale than Kirk Cameron.:D

Maybe not an end in the sense of some global destruction, but certainly an end in the sense that one day this planet will no longer be habitable to humans as we are in our current state of being. The sun is a star, which gives life to Earthly beings, and eventually stars do burn out.
