Pronounce Aguilar for me ....

HAhaha - nice.

There was an episode of American Idol last week where this poor girl was saying all these "big" words about the human anatomy, but she had only read them and never heard how they were pronounced. She came off looking like the biggest idiot. (ok, she looked like an idiot for other reasons too, but...)

When you go to talk to someone in person, and you don't pronounce the stuff right that you're talking about, you come off looking like an idiot - even if you're fully versed on all the specs of the model.

"Neodynium" and "Piezo" are two more words that have similar responses - trying to figure out what word they are trying to say...

Yes, too much coffee and the sarcastic jerk in me comes to the surface

by way those are pronounced

nee-oh-dim-a-nim-a-nim

and

peet-zah

Round these parts, there are many families with that surname... and they all accent the final syllable:

ah-gee-LAHR (with a nice spanish accent, of course...)

The typical "americanization" of the pronounciation however, does usually place the accent on the first syllable.

Now...

...when it comes to the famous German microphones, why is it pronounced "NOY-mann" instead of "NEW-man" (or even "NEOO-man")? :smug:

LOL yeah, i remember those days!! My grandma's old house was on Frost off Meadow - i think it just finally got paved in like 1996 or something LOL.. remember the old little Laredo Groceries at the corner? :D

Oh yeah. Unfortunately, the era of the conglomerate convenience stores put a lot of those little neighborhood "tienditas" out of business!

Such is life...

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread!

That's always been the litmus for me ... call and listen to them answer their phone.

It's not necessarily the case that the person hired to answer the phone, knows how to pronounce the company's name

LOL...Very accurate, Bruce. When I ran a music store in 1987, I had to call the Gibson factory about an Epiphone shipment.
When The receptionist answered, I asked for someone in the Epiphone division. There was a long pause and then....."Epi what? How do you spell that?!!!!!!
