Les Claypool has played (or at least posed with) an Eko violin bass...

I thought the guy from XTC used a squire precision. Not sure though...

Honestly my friend has a squire p bass thats about 6 years old and I have a 2000 MIA p bass. They sound the same for the most part but mine is much more of a joy to play.

I consider myself a pro & my bass of choice for gigging & recording is the mid 80's MIJ Jazz Special - I've 4 of them. I can afford a high end bass, but quite honestly I haven't played one yet that I prefer to these... you can find them on Ebay in the $300 range...

the bassist from AIM an italian emo band plays an ATK, the one that has the J and the triple coil pickup and it sounds like a Fernder MIA deluxe thats worth the double of the IBI, and I've played both models in a store and the only big difference is the price, and if you put a LQ BadAss II on the ATK you have a bass that woths 700$(bridge price included) that sounds like a 1500$ one.
I know that he's not exactly a pro but it is a good example about this thread

I went to high school with him, though I didn't really know him/hang out with him/etc. The name stuck though. :) Useless trivia: Adam Dell, Michael Dell's younger brother (you know, Dell computers.) was in our class (class of '88) as well.

Good to see he's making waves though. :D

I didn't say that they lacked quality. As a matter of fact, one of the guitarists in my band has a Japanese made Squier Strat (looks just like Reggie's), which I have played once. I would have to say that the feel, construction and sound of the instrument compares to the new MIA Fender Strats.

crazy! that's the same type of bass i've been using live... of course mine's had the finish completely stripped and is tuned CGCG with a midi pickup now...

i believe the bass player from aerosmith used the jazz specials as well. i remember reading that he had custom shop basses made to exactly made to the same, unique neck shape of the jazz special.

the bass player (eric campuzano) from the 90's band The Prayer Chain (they developed quite a cult following for their time) used a squire p-bass w/ an added jazz pickup. he also used a squire strat (proudly bought for $99 w/ case and amp) for a band called the lassie foundation.

I believe that Duff fellow from GnR and The Velvet Underground uses that bass as well.

It's very similar to the old precision "b" neck - it's just feels right to me. :D Treena's got a jazz special too... :cool:
