Give a listen to this podcast series. It’s a lot of content and only focuses on a few bands, but it gives quite a bit of context and mentions several bands on each episode, including examples of their work. I heard several bands and songs I never would’ve found otherwise.

I know some will question the genre, but to me Gang of Four qualify enough as a punk band I guess they are a post punk band... but really who cares...



and a classic german pop punk band, Die Ärzte, they also have lots of very well knows bass line hooks in their songs. Like this
