How do you like that fump dampener? I've been curious, but I read a lot of bad reviews. I have an L2K that I dampen with foam at the bridge, strung with tapes, as it appears yours is. However, handmade foam isn't quite up to my aesthetic tastes, I guess I'm all ~fancy~. lol

I wouldn't recommend it. Sounds good on some basses but horrible on others...doesn't mute the tone, strangles it.
It has a lot to do with the fretboard radius... works better with a flatter fretboard. Also, for some crazy reason Gruv Gear decided to use a material similar to velcro as the muting material. I replaced it with two thin strips of regular foam insulation and it's much better.
The one on my L2000 (foam strip and felt so you can make one in whatever color you like) is much better. The Fump was absolutely useless on it.

P vs reverse-P?

Be really interested to hear from any folk who have had basses both P and reverse-P what your experiences are and which you ended up going for?

I prefer the 'standard' configuration.

You might like this, but for $40 they should be offering a dozen colors!

hmmmm.... I have a decent wood shop in the garage, and even some scraps of wenge, and zebrawood. I think an experiment is in order! thanks!

Go for it!
You can make any color you like.
I've always wondered what those mutes with the foam rubber surrounding the strings would sound like as opposed to the ones with the foam under the strings.

Reversing the pickup puts the D/G strings further from the bridge, and the E/A strings closer, which makes the higher strings fuller and the lower strings less boomy.

You are absolutely correct! My BEST sounding P Bass! (notice the reversed coils)
