There's a saying in Ireland.... There's no such thing as 1 pint. Lol a few beers is fine, just don't be langers. There is a difference between having a pint, and being inebriated, so it affects your play.
Yep.. I have to shape my tone every venue because the lads "have their settings" lol doesn't matter if it's a shed, outdoor, pub, on the moon... So I change my settings as the venue dictates. When I'm playing the better venues with house pa my kit is just a large monitor. The last gig in particular I sounded like 90s grunge metal just to get rid of all the lows and subs coming from the stage.I had the same problem with 412 fecking guitar cabs. What I did was change my tone - I went back to 2 15s, and added an Ampeg SCRDI, giving me a ton of low end. basically, I went to a frequency area they had no chance of getting into. It wasn't my tone, but i could hear myself.
How would I hook them up? Could I go ampless? Lol that would be cool to tryIf you're already up for custom ear-molds, you might consider going all in and getting IEMs.
Can he fix it?!?What?!?
I’m certain it’s been said already, but On behalf of our community please wear earplugs. Even posting at moderate volumes will cause damage. Not to mention the volumes you’re describing. I didn’t wear plugs the first couple years of playing in a loud rock band. I did develop hearing issues.
A guy asked about tone settings to offset 412 guitar cabs and got 7 pages of warnings about hearing loss. OK, we get it. How about some actual helpful info for the guy?
A good portion of the hearing in my right ear was surely damaged from Lolapalooza 97’ when Metallica was headlining.Whatever hearing issues I have I can track back to a show I attended in May, 2011. My hearing was cottony for months afterward. I’m not sure I ever fully recovered. It was ridiculous.
Yeah that immediately came to mind to me as well.....1,000 watts in the model name and marketing materials, 200 watts in the actual real world LOL.
I have a Bugera BVP-5500 (it's actually a great amp that has been very reliable) and it is rated at 550 watts.
While it does get louder with more headroom than my Ampeg B2-R (350 watts) it's not that much louder (frankly even if it was 550 watts it would not be that much louder, I was after more headroom which it does have).
Where I suspect the 550 watts came from was this amp was designed to be like the Ampeg SVT-3 Pro, which is 450 watts at four ohms.
So the Behringer/Bugera marketeers figured "well we will just say it's 550 watts so it is 100 watts more" LOL.
I've noticed as of late some amp companies (like Hartke) seem to be going back to the bad old days of using some inflated "peak power" volume spec, then putting that into the name and the marketing materials.
People seem to really like their new combos (KB500?) but the first comment people make is it's not near 500 watts, more like 250 watts.

Hi guys,
I'm just curious... I have a 1000watt head and a 1200watt cab both @4ohm and sometimes I find myself pushing the master vol up to 8/10 to cut through a live set with 2x guitarists using 4x12 marshall cabs...
I've asked them countless times to turn down as I'm afraid of pushing my head too hard. I've had a hartke head crap out on me before pushing it up to 8 also... Am I being paranoid or is it a legit concern?
Appreciate any info!
I may be wrong but if you want to get louder then the most sensible way to accomplish that would be to add more speaker surface area to increase the sensitivity. In theory this would be more a efficient rig and therefore give you more db (volume) without overloading the amp.
The whole problem is that they aren't unified. Bands seldom are. I wish I had a dollar for every time I had to make drastic adjustments in dealing with the damned guitar player's "tone". We're talking about needing to wear protective gear because of the selfishness. If the band isn’t unified on this, one player’s settings don’t amount to anything.
