PYPB 37: In a row?

Here is my latest bass board.

Adding the Divided Octave pushed the VP-Jr off the board, which puts the relay/mute/vol pedal back on. The VP-Jr is still in use off board though. This setup will stay this way for a while. The filter may be replaced, and a phaser added (again) down the road; but power requirements are next on the saveupandspend list...

signal is:
(in) relay > Schism > Submarine Designer > relay (out)

Schism 1: Divided Octave > TimeLine
Schism 2: B3k > TFR > tafm > Unpleasant Surprise > Filter/Fixed Wah > BMC

DMC-3XL controls TimeLine loop/bank-select functions
Mini Expression Wheel controls TimeLine loop volume
Relay (top right) switch grounds the output jack and sends the signal to the tuner jack (mute). The large knob is a volume pot attached to the output jack.
VP-Jr (not shown) controls TimeLine knob settings.

edit: Don't mind the knob settings, they're all out of whack from rewiring the board.

damn vlad, that makes me pretty embarrassed about the under side of my board. cables all over the place..... due to laziness when i make changes.

"oh i'll just cable tie all THESE ones together cuz theyr close"

Makes it annoying when making the next change, haha. only myself to blame.

Well yeah, usually the underside of my board is pretty messy too. This latest is my attempt at cleaning it up. I'm fairly confident this arrangement will remain for a while too, so... we'll see...

I dig it! How do you like using the Mini? I've got one coming to me right now and I've contemplated going from my PT-1 to just the Mini. Only trouble is I'd have to hawk all my pedals and buy up their single switch/setting little brothers and/or build mini versions of them. I like the idea of having something that appears minimalist, but in reality is far from it.

It's been a gradual process for me... I started with a PT Pro (which earned a nickname of "the Death Star Board"), then quite a few versions of self-built boards, then to a PT1 (which is currently my secondary board), and finally the Mini. I guess I just realized that I don't need a ton of effects for what I do, so I pared it down to what I consider my essentials. It's really nice to have a pedalboard that I can just toss over my shoulder, as opposed to one that probably should've been on wheels. Lol I've never run into a situation that I can't cover with it... I play for a couple church choirs and in pit bands, and recently got into a gospel band and a Tower of Power funk outfit, so what I've got on there is more than I need. Aside from the Tone Hammer being an always on pedal, the pedal I use most is my tuner. ;)

My G.A.S. has kicked in though... I have a Dark Driving on order and someone also suggested a Polytune Mini as a way to fit more stuff on my Mini, so now the gears are turning. When the DD gets here, I might look into seeing if a Polytune Mini, the DD and an Aguilar Octamizer (hint: DD and Aggie both have top jacks ;)) will fit on there in place of the TU3/B3K. The Dark Driving will have to be really good to unseat the B3K though.

Hmmmmm top mount jacks + mini pedals = success it seems. I build pedals using boards from MadBean pedals and they just put out a bunch of baby boards that will fit in a polytune mini-sized box. Very tempting. I too am realizing that scaling things back a bit to what I ACTUALLY use might be a good idea.

That's right, that was you wasn't it? lol You also suggested getting the MXR BOD that I love rehoused to have top jacks, but 1) didn't look like it'd work in the size enclosure I'd need and 2) I wouldn't mind having a second octaver anyway, and I really dig what I hear in demo vids for the Aggie.

I don't know whether or not I should thank you for spending my money for me! :hiding: lol :p ;) ;)

Thanks :) .

I agree, its finally coming together. The right 1/3 of the board is all utility pedals (controllers, eq/boosts), the top 2/3 is all special effects (pitch, modulation, etc...), and the bottom 2/3 is all dirt (drive/fuzz).
