NICE. what kind of music do you play?

not slagging anybody that loves comps at ALL, i've just never got them. tried. had 4 or 5. i never could tell the difference, or didn't like what they did. only thing i was interested in them for was bringing up the volume of tapping to fit fingers or chording, and i like the way an OD does it better.

Blues/funk/soul trio that does everything from Hendrix to The Meters to Marvin Gaye to Hall & Oates.

Honestly, in 27 years of playing, this is my first compressor. I have been really getting into tubey juicy tones recently so I like the bit of squish it adds. And, on four hour gigs, a little bit of peak leveling can't be a bad thing.

Funny I was just thinking about this... I've run a compressor since the beginning. It's slight, but there to help with peaks and can't really distinguish a "tone" from it. Now that my technique is better, relatively speaking, I've been thinking about removing it. It would also free up another spot... :D But it adds a little bit of comfort to know I have a little bit of safety just in case. Guess I should at least try it out and see....

I've never used compressors, tried and didn;t like. I prefer to have my playing dynamics, how I play a string/note is how I want it to sound for the style I play, which is generally pretty aggressive. I can see why some would want to use one... particularly softer finger style players and such.

Sheet, some mint looking boards lately. Be posting mine tomorrow after my new arrival, I know you all just. cant. wait.....................

I have a long time love hate thing with compressors, use one for a while and then stop for a long time - repeat as needed. There is certainly some magic there especially when you get into some of the upper end classics. I don't have a comp on my board but a Durham Sex Drive is in the trick box that does a really pleasing job. In general I prefer to control dynamics by hand but I do like a limiter in the amp to prevent power section clipping and speaker damage.

I loved mine too :) I also noticed that black russian cut the low a little bit (not like the nyc muff that cut almost all of low freq)

the blender? I love it so much! :)
I highly recommend you to use blender if you won't lose your low end if you use the black russian :)

note : my blender isn't true bypass, it's use good buffers
so, it will not suck your tone. Also, it will not alter your tone :)

Colossus came...

The BIG MUFF is still there because I like big pedals and for a instant burst of UBER FUZZ, it does drop off all low end at the mail store and ship it to India though. I'll be using the Colossus for more regular use fuzz. FUZZROCIOUS Dark Driving is next to be added, later this summer. And a Bluebaerd will eventually replace the NYC, for the UBER FUZZ maker.
