PYPB 37: In a row?

caeman said:
This is what I was wanting from a parallel chain board. The DBD is now in a proper place as an overdrive (channel 1), while the Bass Ming-Rod (channel 2) gives me my fuzz sound.

With them both off, I get the pristine cleanness that is my Gretsch as EQ'd by the MXR. The Separate Ways is an A/B selector, so I can now keep both basses plugged in at once.

There is just enough room left for my future [sfx] Micro Screaminator up by the DI.

Fancy. Parallel chains makes for sounds that you really can't get with one.

Also, you use the ming-rodulator for fuzz? Does it do ring-mod sounds too though?

Parallel chains answer the question of preserving low end and stacking effects in ways that, yeah, you just need true parallel channels.

The sounds from the Bass Ming-Rod are of the octave-fuzz variety. I don't have the much experience with proper ring modulator pedals, so I cannot say if it does that particular function well. But, it does the whole octave-up fuzz thing really well for my tastes.

Cool paint job, who did that?? first one i've seen not set to no diodes!

Yeah I'm still getting to know it but I thought the manual shows that the top toggle position is silicon diodes, I could be wrong though. The top position is definitely the quietest of the 3 so no diodes makes sense. I also snapped this right after wiring it up and moving things around, the settings look alot different after playing through it for the last 2 hours. And the paint is 'kid paint' from Ryan's little boy.

Yeah I thought that, looks a little different to the other paint jobs the little guy has done. Maybe he's getting better at his craft haha. Yeah both bottom and top toggle positions are significantly quieter, I actually haven't toyed much with those, I went with no diodes because it was the loudest. Maybe its time to start experimenting.... ;) Great pedal.

Oh btw, are you enjoying the RD??

YES I love it! I only have 2 issues with it which both can be fixed eventually. I play fingerstyle with a pretty heavy attack and I get a little buzz on the G string and the 3 point bridge doesn't make it easy to set up properly. And it has a little RF issue but I hope to get the pick-ups and control cavity properly shielded soon. OTHERWISE it rules, the basic tone is so tasty and it has incredible sustain, with heavy fuzz it just goes forever.

Awwwwwesome :bassist: Love those basses. I'd love to have an RD one day. Still paying off my 77 G3 !!

I love it and now I GAS for a Grabber actually, and a g3 specifically although I'd settle for a regular.

G3 rulezz. Sounds MASSIVE through my ampeg rig. It's a monster and took some getting used to, but its my main bass. Plus its f'n cool looking.

I'm looking at a P bass next personally, but I would love either an RD or a sunburst Ripper at some point in the distant future.

Sorry, this is way off topic. lol.

A new blog post... somewhat fitting given all the awesome sexy boards that have appeared on the last few pages of this thread...

+1 on the G3, have owned many Gibson basses and the G3 is best fit for me. RD Artist loved the look, sound and electronics but never got comfy with the shape and balance. Rippers are very sweet but ultimately i got tired of the pickup selections and always wanted more options.

Holy f***. On the rare occasion you decide/need to sell this, give me a shout. I don't care if it's 20 years down the road. This is gnarly as hell. It would go well with all over my other goat products.

Haha, I don't think that pedal will be leaving my possession any time soon. But 20 years down the line if for some unforeseen reason, I'll let you know.

Bro, ever consider getting a PT-Pro? I mean you've got a ton of great crap on that board! It deserves a proper board man!!!!! lol

There have been some cheap ones popping up lately too!

I hope to post in this thread in the near future, but it won't be for awhile. Got two pedals to build, one more to fix, 4 pedals out on a tourbox and a rehouse I'm doing but I already clear coated and decided to change coloring on it. So gotta strip that bitch.

Also, since Ben shows off his cool etches. What do you fellers think of this one?

Dude, Fabe has a funky cool board and i happen to dig his esthetic, it is the opposite of Shep's almost clinical board, that I also dig. We're all chasing different sounds and that leads to different choices.

Yes i know you were joking but the whole world does not hafta go PT to get props. rant over.
