PYPB XXXIII - Effects are STOOPID

Still wanting iPad.

Like I said I'd go used and get a Gen1 of one of those sheeple that always have to have teh latest version of everything.

Alas,...I've got bigger fish to fry before picking up something like that.

Some changes here. I still have to wire them all (and EHX bass micro synth - the colorful stuff- will stay out! - just waiting the time to be useful...)
But I think this is my way!!

@holmebass: he Red Ripper cannot do gated sounds as it has no gate! I dont use a looper in the regards to looping sound. The groove regulator has an effects loop that let's the clean signal trigger the filter than the effects go in after then the envelope. I use it because you still have your playing dynamics to control the envelope but all the other effects still come before the filter so it sounds a lot more snythy that way.

The WHSP MKII: this is a woofy muddy beast! Any modulation after it sounds amazing and I usually use it as follows:

Loudness: slight boost
Filter: 3:00
Sustain: 3:00
Scoop: 5:00
Compression: 5:00

Trimpots:
Clip: 7:30
Voice: 12:30

Enjoy!

Edit: I do use 2 loopers if need be but it's sound on sound from both my delays and it more than covers my small looping needs!

Thanks for the info- I was trying to get at the "ripping" sound, but I suppose I'll just have to try one some day.

And "looper" I meant effects loop, your Boss loop pedal with the A and B loops, not sound loops, so how you route signals through the Boss loop pedal and the GR's loop. My QTron+ also has a loop and I have not noticed it being too useful, but I should try it out again with some higher gain stuff (like the SP???) and see what I can get.

You have any luck using the SP with envelopes after it? Is it in your GR's loop? Thank you for patiently answering my questions!!

The MicroSynth and Russian are switched on (in series) by the LS-2. Stole the big rubber knob off of a Phase90 and put it on the Freeze. M9 is mostly used for sampling, but the mainstay programmed sounds are vibrato, delays, reverb,and tremolo. Wish I could find a suitable MIDI controller the size of a 4-5 bypass strip for the sampler functions- any suggestions?

they've been running ads here on TB, the SoftStep has me intrigued. you could just put it in the carry space of your PT-Pro's gargantuan hard case or lay it underneath the Pro when in transit. might work for ya?

yeah. i know they had to do SOMETHING to get all that stuff in there, but a quicker way to get to the looper would be NICE.

lulz. seriously, actually made me giggle aloud. i never noticed that. it's my Home Aggie, so i played around with like 6 colors to see what i liked for the show ones, white won, and i kinda liked the nasty edges when i sprayed more white onto it. it sorta DOES match! lulz.

Holmesalz - yahp! MuddMudd is correct! i just used a layer of PT Boosters until it gets to the Rusty Box. i never touch that live, so lower is fine. the PT Boosters are GREAT. i love the PT boards, missed the tier of the Lytboards.

thanks for the ups on the board! yah, the M9 is a GREAT space saver for delays, modulations, some weird stuff and a looper. reaaaaaaalllly like it.

it's an interesting pedal. sounds crap lined in in most of it's settings, sounds NICE through my amp. i like it for a more fizzy, almost guitar noise. i use it at the end of that clip for the chorded parts.

and yeah.... they look.... not good. although the orange on grey Government Issue Design is growing on me a little.

Effects Loop Receive:

As you can see I have the WHSP-MKII in the effects lop of the GR-MKI. In my adventures I have come to a conclusion that the Swollen Pickle is so powerful it crushes the Groove Regulator if run into it. Fuzz/Dirt after an envelope filter was never my sound so the effects loop was/is a godsend! Like I said before the effects loop lets you clean affect the filter. Since you dynamics affected the envelope then your dynamics controls everything in there. Everything that is out of the loop (POG2, Vibrothang, El Capistan, Boss DD-7) is not too affected by clean dynamics so that besides other reasons are why they are not in the loop.

The Red Ripper is damn useful and like I said before give me a few days and I'll post some clips/video to give you a crappy sonic run through!

Excellent, thanks for the break-down. Now I've got something to try out-- maybe this will be the win that finally lets the QTron+ knock the MuTron III+ off of my board? We'll see. Looking forward to the RedRipper demo SillyFabe.

For TalkBass, bass-talkin' sake, I wanted to bring up why I like the CS-2 and see what you guys think about other possible compressors I might like- in case my 25 year old peddal ever goes down.

I do not like transparent. I use this compressor almost like a clean-overdrive, if that makes sense. It provides the fatness and sustain that a tube-screamer type pedal would, without the harsh nasal grit that comes with them.

I like the type of drive and squishiness that the CS-2 gives me. Any other warm-squishies you guys recommend?
